Everybody lies. He knew the guy posted the thing so he is likely in charge. So he started with "bullshit" it is a standard tactic to apply some pressure because the suspect will fold 90% of the time and change their story, the moment that he didn't and also seemed calm and had decent body language the cop assessed he wasn't lying in this particular case and that is where he acted to diffuse and deescalate and try to garner a decent conversation to glean more information. You also have to remember that 99.99999999% of "bikers" are worthless human garbage that endanger themselves and the lives of others because they think they are special snowflakes and the laws don't apply to them.

And though he did stop him, he didn't ask for ID, he didn't try to arrest, and did nothing out of normal questioning. He merely wanted to make sure nobody died in his area that day due to unsafe biking. He emotionally regulated a perfectly respectful stop, and called himself out the moment he seemed out of pocket.

I think the evidence shows that therapy is good for discovery and understanding, but the sports or cultural activities help metabolize the stress and conditions. This biker posts bike stuff all the time, and it is useful for officers to know what to look for to keep people, including bikers, safe. Dude was obviously concerned that bikers he doesn't know are tearing up the road in real dangerous ways. He saw the bikes were posted by this guy, and thought that the poster would probably know troublemakers.

It was in the biker's rights to drive away but it was also equally in his rights to stay and talk to the cop, which he did. It wasn't false imprisonment because the guy wasn't detained. KZbin told me to rewrite the last sentence of my comment because it wasn't very nice, and I agree. Being nice is free and I was wrong to be rude. So instead I'll say that critical thinking is a skill that gets better with practice, and I'm sure with plenty of time to practice you'll get there in the end.

Cops often think that bikers all know each other when riding in groups, which can be true, but not always. I think its important to remind people that HIGH PROFILE ≠ HIGH FREQUENCY. People dont understand that MILLIONS of police encounters as calm and professional as this occur on a yearly basis and aren't recorded/don't blow up online (because positivity spreads slower than negativity). Police departments regularly keep track of social media, mostly for gang related things, "group mobs", and other stuff you'd want them to be aware about. There's software that tracks this kind of stuff automatically for them so it's not like they're just scouring social media for events (though some departments probably do lol)

@ithilpalladium it's web scraping bots that do it, I made some my self a long time ago before it was a bit thing for a small police department. You right mostly for gang stuff and drugs at least that's all the one I made did, of course now there are more advanced stuff.

Some cops are just dickheads and put the blame on whoever stops without asking questions and start being hostile which is why most bikes don’t like to stop
