We knocked on the door of this home and realized it was vacant, so we asked the neighbor about it. She said that she hasn't seen anyone living there since she moved in. We decided to start mowing the yard since it looked so bad and about halfway through the yard we started to hear yelling! I turned around and the neighbor was yelling out of her window, trying to figure out what was going on and who we were. We were able to explain to her what we were trying to do but she wasn't to happy and actually didn't want us to continue the job. This was a first for us and was definitely an interesting interaction. Thanks for watching!

some people don't understand, no matter their age, that it is so much more pleasant for all when yards are mowed and trash is picked up. A yard doesn't have to have beautiful landscaping or a fancy house to be pleasant to look at. Even a biweekly mow and making sure there is no standing water go a long way for the neighbors to be able to appreciate their own yards more. Thank you for caring about your community and teaching your boys the value of a job well done😊

There are so many goodhearted young people out there doing this kind of thing. Even in Australia we've got a few on youtube doing these free clean ups. I feel for them when they get neighbours complaining about noise etc., and being told it's not worthwhile. The thing is that abandoned buildings and messy yards invite vermin, vandalism and squatters. And yes it would be great if they could be used for housing for the homeless, depending on who, if anyone, owns these properties.

To me, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a truly horrible looking yard get cut, trimmed and all the overgrown smaller trees hauled away; you guys are amazing. It’s a shame the lady couldn’t understand that. Thanks for trying 😊.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's too bad. No one is living in that house and giving it life again. These guys have such big hearts. That lady really lost out. Sometimes holding on to something thinking is valuable. It rots, and then there's no value. I think that's where this lady is at.

Boy, that’s something trying to make her property next-door to look nice and she doesn’t want you there. You probably woke her up from a nap and she got out of the wrong side of the bed. You and your boys are doing a great job doing what you do continue.

I'll bet she was afraid of what you were doing. Elderly and suspicious of someone doing something out of kindness. Many things advise the elderly to be on their guard and beware of strangers, just like we tell our kids. That's our world now.

Apparently that lady owns the property. She commented that her mother had lived there. My thought is that once this lady passes or gets put into a nursing home by her family then both properties will probably be sold off.

The property was her mother's. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you own it now or not, you somehow feel the need to control what was your mother's. Crazy but true! I love what you do and why you do it. I'm also loving that your boys are learning it from you!

It doesn't matter if it's a fancy neighbourhood or not - everything looks better with a spruce up. I've seen posh parts of towns with carefully manicured lawns, but there's often that one house where everything looks overgrown and neglected - sometimes due to illness or financial distress, and it tends to spoil the look of the street. I commend you on your efforts, patience and tact.👍

It is her property. Mowing or do anything to someone's property without permission is trespassing. She doesn't need approval from anyone to say no.

Thank you for being so kind to her. I am a caregiver and I work with a lot of elderly people and some of them no matter what you do you can please them and you just have to bite your tongue. But you and Ty did a great job.

Not to defend her, but she sounds old and I'm sure has many memories of her mother being there. That generation had a hard time asking or accepting help. Thank you for what you and your sons do to help people. You are teaching them a very valuable lesson and they also need to know some people aren't as gracious as others.

Right off, there was instant charm. Working on "the biggest area" can do wonders and mowing the front, and the clean looking cut on the house, looked nice. 2:33 Good job Ty getting the seedling trees along the house so they won't be breaking the foundation. (The utility people would also thank you for clearing the meter area.) Looked to be a chilly day. Good work being done. Noted you cleared the handicap ramp. I think it is important to note "stuck" places in an area and if possible do something to get it rolling again. Thank you.

Unfortunately in our world today, random acts of kindness are far less common than scams and crime. When somebody tries to do something nice, it is often met with suspicion. My view is she is probably an elder who has some fear toward other people in general. She may not understand how the grass grows, or she is using the growth of grass to hide from others. Whatever the case, you were very kind and explained it well !

You were trying to give a blessing to the neighborhood and if there was a homeowner, but like the woman you spoke to said her mother use to live there and she DIDN'T own it. Legally she couldn't tell you what to do or to ask you to vacate the property because she was NOT the owner. Respectfully you left understanding that her mother use to live there. You always make the extra effort knocking on neighbor's doors even. County Property Appraiser and Property Tax websites always list the owners. They are public and you can enter either the address if you don't have a name, a name or a business name. I hope you and your sons and whomever assists you receives many, many blessings in return.

Many elderly are afraid of change and when a next door property was family owned then there is also the sentimental issue and control fear of change again.I helped an elderly friend for years and they want their independence and right of choice even if we do not see it to be a betterment for them.

It would have been nice to investigate who the current owner is. Maybe they would have been agreeable to letting you finish the yard since the lady said she wasn't the owner.
