Growing up in and around Sevier Co. was nothing like it is now. I miss the days when you could have moments in the Cove without seeing another car/person. This place has become so commercialized, it's lost it's natural attraction.

It had been quite a while since I had been there. I heard it had boomed, but I was shocked. I can’t imagine how you local people feel.

I’ve lived in Johnson City, TN (50+ years) and have only visited the Gatlinburg area a few times. It’s not worth dealing with the people and traffic. There are other areas/parks such as Grayson Highlands, VA that I would rather visit. The drive from Damascus, VA to Grayson Highlands State Park is great...if you like lots of curves and winding roads. You should also visit Breaks Interstate Park (Grand Canyon of the South) on the VA-KY border.

I hear ya. I’ve been at both many times when I was younger. Maybe it’s time to go back.

Wow, yeah it’s all commercialized, Gatlinburg, Cherokee, Pisgah National Forrest. It’s a shame that everyone found out about these places.

The Smokey Mountains was the most visited Park in the U.S. this year. If I remember correctly, a ranger told me they had a 33% increase this year as to last. But yes Ma'am. You are correct. I had a good idea of what I was getting into and I had no right to complain. It was far more people and traffic than I expected. As I said, I don't fault anyone that likes that kind of life. It's their choice as it is yours. I just choose a little more solitude for me. Have a great day and I hope you have a good 2021. Chad
