No great surprise. I bought a Toshiba Laptop from them that they said was "Refurbished". After years of a slow running machine, I opened the case to find the problem. Seems when they rebuilt my computer, they decided to put in a 4 Gb Memory card, and a 2Gb card- a mismatch. Also when they did the cards, they didn't bother to use two cards from the same manufacturer. For a company that claimed to be an Electronics Expert, they didn't know jack about computers.

I can see that as well! So many sales and tech hires working for minimal pay with access to name brand and generic parts they went for profit over quality. This may work if you cannot get the inventory from anywhere else. Once you have choices like Amazon and other outlets you eventually loose your customers. customers hate to get burned by a store. Thanks for watching!!

Both of the ones in Phoenix left. I wish Best Buy had more pc parts and I'm hoping we get a Micro Center or something down here sometime soon.

Store is huge, I know a lot of people now buy on the internet, but I dont see how they went completely under. Do most people buy big ticket items like appliances, TV's, etc from online? I still go to retail stores for that stuff.

They were a trashy store with crappy prices and they would restock damaged/open box items as new. The only things that had a good price was what was in their ads, everything else was more expensive than it should have been.

@@MAGAMAN You would buy those open damaged boxes you take it back they would inspect it and blame it on you and won't give you a refund. Then they would repeat the process. That place was sketchy.

I just moved away from San Jose, loved that store. I knew something was up, in Oct 2018 I went to frys to build me a new computer and they had very little stock in computer parts. They had 3 Different B350 motherboards and only a Ryzen 5 2600, They didnt even have any 3200mghz memory I had to drive to Best buy to get some memory and a M.2 SSD. It's a shame, as I could spend hrs in frys shopping, figuring out what computer parts I want to build with. Now I am back in NJ, and I am with in 1hr drive of 2 Microcenter stores. R.I.P Frys

Yes, little by little they had less and less inventory on the parts you needed to build a computer. If you cant get everything at one place then you may not weant to go there. Sad to see these stores close.

Hey, here in the LA area they could convert the local Fry's to homeless shelters.
@GadgetMartian3 жыл бұрын
Yes! lets see... The Fry's in burbank is 50's SciFi themed... That can be the Homeless Mothership! or the Alice In Wonderland Fry's over there can have everyone drink from that bottle and shrink down to make so much more space! yeah.. living in the bay area homeless situation is getting worse especially in San Francisco and San Jose! All over the streets and off the freeways! Something has got to be done for everyone's sake (homed and homeless). Something positive that we all wish we knew the answer to. The challenges of a sanctuary state. So different in California 20-30 years ago

@@GadgetMartian Truth be known, I was in computer sales. Only way you got paid at all was if a customer used your quote at a checkout. There was no base pay. If you only wrote 1 quote that paid you say maybe $5 from what ever was in the customer's cart, you would only make $5 for the entire 8 hour shift. So, you can see why most salesman would be hasty to write what ever they could so they can justify the work hours. The Key to doing this respectably is to help as many as you can quickly and learn to spend more time on those customers who were making a bigger purchase. I know it sounds bad but if done right, getting simple things quickly versus more time consuming large purchases would be fine as long as the salesman were great at their job.

@@Cykotr0n oh wow! That explains it well! I have a new respect for the employees who needed to do this to get paid. Now that I think about it the service was pretty good when you found knowledgeable people who could help you. It not too much to ask for getting a printed slip to make sure employees get paid. Thank you for your comment. Frys will be missed!
