How do the Sentinel locomotives work?

They're closely related to the Sentinel steam waggon. If you Google` Sentinel steam locomotive` there's a lot of information on them'

It has a vertical boiler (coal fired), and a two cylinder vertical engine (dual high pressure) that drives through gearing.
