I am working on a Large New Art Profile. Concepts for Design & Cars, Homes, Future Products. Syd Mead, is very inspirational. I need to get this book. Thank you very much for sharing this book.

you should digitize these. It would be a blast... so hard to find his stuff.

Might make his copy less valuable. His other books have a lot of this stuff.

Perhaps the only way I would ever see some of this mans amazing work. Felt like traveling in time. Thank you.

Terrific! I recently got the Movie Art book - which is great - but it's the early work that interests me most. Wish they would reprint them.

The Celcon one evades me. I've never seen that one for sale. Most of the others pop up from time to time...expensive but attainable.

I tried to buy this online. The owner wanted 700 bucks. I walked away and contemplated my place in the universe.

Sorry to hear that. Good art should be available to everyone. I know these books keep getting more expensive. Keep your eye out in used book stores, you might get lucky!

Somehow I just got Concepts for about 130 bucks on ebay. No kidding. Back cover has a deep dig in it, and I'm going to repair this vinyl area using white book glue and some rustoleum white satin paint. To match the texture of the rest of the surface I'll press a hardening clay onto the good section and get a relief embedded into it, then when the glue and paint are semi hard, press the clay into that section. I found that a little carpet cleaner on a rough towel really cleaned up the odd stains on the cover. (I see your circle stain) I noticed (you should take a close look) that areas on the pages were building up a fleck of tan fuzz on the whites and especially on the deep colors, and I used a flat gray eraser used to lighten pencil work by pressing it down and lifting it off worked perfectly (you keep rekneading the eraser to get a clean area) and instead of it's designated press down style uou use it like a regular eraser, and it took off all that powdery almost mold like flecking. And how about that amazing super heavy matte paper in Concepts? Thanks for the tip that Mead was at Ford at the time. You know, there are people you show books to that consider themselves snobs, and while turning the pages, instead of lifting from the edge of the page, they fit their thumb right next to the center spine and flick over the page leaving a ding in every page. I would love to show the book to this person, but just can't let them handle it!

Very cool! Didn't know you had a youtube channel, too! Picking up some LeTourneau vibes on the giant-scale scraper and frame style. Obviously more refined styling than LeToruneau, but given the era, quite an interesting comparison. Also 7:01 is that a torque-balanced bogie/tandem?
