Thank you Gnome for the Mothers Day weekend Gnome pill. Needed something to watch while I prep my mom's yearly feast. Side note: As someone with a food safety manager license, the meat defrosting debate physically pained me. Tomato is absolutely right; the safest way to defrost any proteins is in the fridge submerged in water at least 40 degrees (4.5 Celsius) or lower to prevent the spread of E. Coli bacteria among others. The ONE TIME chat's trolling actually tilted me. 😂

Apparently my family has done it wrong for the last two generations (my parent and grandparents) minimum and nothing ever happened to anyone. They all defrost leaving out in the sealed packaging they are bought in. Be it flanks ,ground or fish. Meat that doesn't have sealed frozen packaging is eaten immediately or salt cured 🤷‍♂

The way I defrost meat is keeping it in packaging, sink filled with hot water place meat in, or unpackage the meat, place on plate and defrost setting on the microwave. I don't have the time to wait a week for meat to defrost in the fridge.
