As a Software Engineer for over 22 years, I think that many younger aspiring SEs make the mistake to go to a place that is "cutting edge," but is not stable. You sometimes have to prioritize stability if you want a long career in Tech over working at the "cool place."

My hopes and plans and everything. I had to take much less desirable job in a local company and was in a sad mood for 5 months straight because of questionable processes in my new company and code base was (is) aaagrh, muuch worse then I expected. Keep up the hard work and thank you for sharing your story and experiences. It's not looking good for me, 27, and just starting to teach myself to code with my only work experience being in construction work and hoping I will be able to change career's. The recession is real, work has been slow, no call backs for any side jobs I apply to so money is just getting tighter and seeing interns and other youtubers losing their jobs or not being able to get one after their internships makes my odds look even more grim. But it's fun learning more everyday, being able to understand what I didn't before, being able to start writing my own code, seeing progress in myself and that's what we all need to focus on. Every small step forward counts.
@oolongdrink2 жыл бұрын
Pan, you are really talented, smart, and hardworking. The recession is temporary. Companies will start hiring again eventually. The government will bail out companies and/or the economy (especially given the past), so there'll be jobs and your experience won't go to waste. More importantly, you've won the summer. You've made memories and friends that'll last a lifetime. Your fans are cheering you on!!! You got this, Pan!!

I'm a tech recruiter and love your channel. Sorry to hear about what happened to you, but it's sadly like this across the market right now. We just furloughed about 30% of our staff. A lot of my friends were let go. People I got hired as well. People more senior than me. I've been having a lot of survivor's guilt recently. For my job we halted ALL intern/entry level hires and are only looking for people with 4+ yoe for senior tech roles. I know things will bounce back, but seeing videos like this really sucks. I feel for all the interns out there and everyone who has recently started a new job just to be fired or furloughed. Stay strong friends.

Don't worry, there are many companies out there that would hire someone that had some experience in Facebook. And.. There's better life as a programmer, I work all days from my house, in the coach with my laptop over my balls, don't get me wrong, I work very hard but this way it's way less stressful, without having to interact with all this characters in person, can't imagine what it's like in an environment like facebook... Hope you find the right balance. 😇 Personal advice, I just ignore job offers that ask me to solve a leet code question, even worse live coding interviews with leet code questions that's red flag... Spend that time doing real life projects with the techs you like, good people will ask you questions related to real world problems... Even more they will try to understand if you are able to work with their product and will ask to solve problems related to that particular product.

Didn't ever thought that I would be dropping by a comment but this video really had IT!! Though it seems harsh that you all couldn't get the return offer, yet the way you all coped up and the way this video is coordinated is just STUFF OF ANOTHER LEVEL 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Best of luck for future and Happy Leetcoding😊😃🤣

That really really sucks bro, but you did your best and unfortunately this crappy situation was just out of your control... You'll definitely bounce back better and stronger than before

Awesome video. And I’m glad you had a good time in your internship with other great interns. It’s alright if you don’t get to come back, what matters is that you learned and met good people. These moments will happen all throughout our lives and we just have to enjoy them and hold onto them while they last!!

Don’t worry Pan, you’re skilled enough to find something that will make you equally happy or even better. People like you are highly sought after in IT. I think Meta missed out on a talented and motivated professional with lots of potential.
