I feel like I am going to hit you with a big one right now. You know New Jersey has better houses and apartments than anywhere in NYC. Also, the NJ Transit is cheaper than the MTA. So it is cheaper to travel from NJ to NYC than from NYC to NYC. It also takes the same amount of time to get to Manhattan as Brooklyn. You can get a house for the same price as a studio.

If I want to go for software engineering, do i need to change my major to computer engineering or should i just study computer science? ChatGPT can probably explain it decently enough tbh but usually computer engineering has more engineering and hardware shit while computer science has more theoretical shit. If you want to do software engineering then computer science is probably best, it won't make a huge difference in the end though. As for learning software engineering, just try to code some simple projects and see how you like it, cause practice is really the best way to get better at it. Also remember that CS is a massive area and even within software engineering there's a lot of different stuff you can work with, so I wouldn't worry so much now and just try different things out, maybe you'll find something that you particularly enjoy or are interested in. Sincerely, a below-average third year computer science & engineering student
