Many thanks for this back to basics vid's. I have only been using MSFS for a month, and I must admit that I have struggled. But I'm happy to report, because of you, I can land a plane without crashing (though not perfect yet), and now I can fly using VOR with confidence. Yippee! No more autopilot when doing flights under 150mile. MSFS no longer feels like an expensive screensaver. Also thanks to your videos on the T-Flight Hotas One, I have one on order and it should be with me this weekend. So a Huge thankyou to you, I really appreciate all you do for the MSFS community. All the best Elric

@@Huddison I certainly will. I have booked marked your settings vid ready for when I get mine. I just hope that they have finally done something about the sloppy throttle? Which I doubt!

@@ELR1-CI bought mine around about the same time and it was still the same but there are plenty of workarounds to help with that. I use some velcro on the roller part to give it that bit of resistance.

Great part 2 to VOR. Also figured out how to delete all the saved flight plans on my xbox, in manage games I deleted the gamer tag saved data and not the saved data under it.

You can go to NAV mode on the auto pilot and it will literally track the radial that you set on the VOR1 Course, it will correct for wind even, which the Heading won't do.
@Huddison2 жыл бұрын
Yes that will work well.

Another really interesting but also fun video 👍 Learnt a lot there and it's certainly got me wanting to try this VOR flying. I just need to go back and watch the previous VOR video again as I'm a little unsure abt that secondary process where you select the CDi and bring the lines back into unison (about the 31 minute mark). I'll post back here if still confused. Your tutorials are always really helpful, giving people like me that are in the early stages of our flight sim lives so much help and advice. Many thanks 🙌

🤣 I thought you were going to land at the threshold! The WRONG Threshold, but a threshold nonetheless haha! As for making things easier, yes.. I agree! I like letting the AP manage the plane sometimes, but I manually adjust headings etc... like you did. 😎 But, if you REALLY wanted to, you could engage NAV mode, and the AP would follow the VOR for you... Not as much fun though.. haha! Great video Huddison!!!

A landing you can walk away from.. 😁 Great tip re using NAV mode to follow the VOR, but that would make things too easy - thanks Aces 😎

Decent tutorial, but as a pilot irl I noticed a few mistakes. You explained the concepts of radials and courses well, but when navigating from vor to vor, you just need to click the cdi button to center it. It is also a good rule to switch vors half way between. Not directly after. You can hit the cdi button on the g1000 and turn on bearing pointers to track distance. Also the if you hit the nav button on the auto pilot, it will track to and from vors, it will track better compared to using the heading bug.

Thanks, I'm always keen to learn 'real world' procedures and uses of aircraft instruments.

I got a silly question I understand to set the VOR frequency and all that but I can’t understand where to to move the needle (left or right) when the middle line that moves left and right. So in my understanding if the middle line moves to the right then I need to bank right so the middle line aligns with the rest of the vertical line.
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
That's correct and ensure that you have both the arrows in the VOR1 display circle (on the lines you are trying to align) pointing upwards.
@TheRealLaughingGravy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. I'd also like to know how to fly to an intersecting radial. That is, fly along an initial VOR's specified radial on NAV 1 until I reach a second VOR's intersecting radial, which I've set NAV 2 to. I know how to do this using the two NAV gauges on the C152, but how do you do it with the G1000 NXi?
@Huddison2 жыл бұрын
I'll try and cover that in a future video.

Good morning Do I need to fly away from a VOR in order to activate a second VOR guys?
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
Good morning. No, you can pick up on another if you're in range.
@starroger Жыл бұрын
You can use Nav2 to set up a crossing radial from a second VOR. Crossing radials form intersections along the route you are flying from the first VOR. Before DME or GPS, these intersections were the crossroads and mileposts of the sky.
