Ron Pratt mostly has to move trailers from the accident spot to his shop, this thing has to go a long way which makes it much more complicated. His company also has a special long bed trailer to haul trailers on, whereas Steve has this low bed that simply is too short for this job. This wrecker seems to have already had plenty of trouble with the customer on the phone, because he arrived already pissed and his mood hasn't gotten any better seeing that the situation is even worse than the customer made it out to be. Now he fears he's going to end up with part of the bill not being paid because he has zero trust in the customer This is a case of a customer trying to make HIS problem the problem of other people: the wrecker and Steve and the wrecker simply isn't buying it.

The other idea is taking those "lift A frame" that hold the hydraulic lift pump and the beam. Take that off you have your self a load right there.Just have to take those pins that hold the A frame to the trailer belly. But its taking it off and and having planks to hold that up. You said it right when talking about how to deal with the Guy- he's stuck in his ways and just wants' results not questions. Maybe the solution is to just suck up the pain and take a hit a few jobs but then hit him hard with the next one - I get the feeling the guy is running out of companies that will provide him with transport - He's got a bad rep' in the industry no doubt so keep him onside and wean him off cut-throat rates by just getting it dun in the short term? this probably doesn't make much sense but there is a saying that sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate - if this guy is good money long term then figure out a mutually acceptable game plan so you don't have to have those pissy phone conversations with him but your rate slowly climbs? that's a conversation you will need to have with your employer of course as they agree the rate. Great content as always - I hope things are still on the mend with your Father

In South Australia, when a loaded articulated semitrailer combination is over-length, over-length warning signs need to be clearly displayed front and rear. These signs are demountable because the condition of being over-length can change. But we have one articulated semitrailer combination upon which the over-length warning signs are permanently mounted, not because the articulated semitrailer combination itself is over-length, but because the trailer, (measured Pin to rear) is over-length and therefore required by law to carry permanent warning signs. Now the place where this becomes a laughable problem is that when the articulated semitrailer combination is empty, it has the appearance of not being over-length and therefore should not be displaying over-length warning signs and it is upon this appearance that he is somewhat frequently pulled over by Police, for improperly displaying over-length warning signs, when clearly they are not required. And thus for the Umpteenth time he has to explain to them about his trailer being the single sole and solitary reason for the permanently mounted over-length warning signs.

My family owns a towing company. Wreckers, especially rotators aren’t cheap. The trucks aren’t making money just sitting in the shop, so if you have to take some time to torch the landing gear off or what not, so be it. The trucks not gonna pay for itself just sitting in a garage.
