This is the best night time drive video I have seen, absolutely amazing drive. Some of those tight roads with cars parked either side handled superbly. Its amazing the progress that the tesla team are making . I own a 22 model y in the UK and its only usable on some of our motorways and dual carriage ways, but im still hopeful that one day I will get to experience what you have. Keep up the great work as its fully appreciated. ❤❤

Another great videos. This version works great on the rural roads around me that are narrow and no lines. The previous release the car would sometimes want to come to a stop when a car came the other direction. I’m taking chemo treatments right now, they don’t affect me, but after sitting 4 hours and telling the car to navigate home is wonderful. It just keeps getting better.

HW3 Model 3 on 12.5.4.2 driving in the Bay Area (Exact same places AiDrivr drives). The only issues are jerking in parking lots, bailing on unprotected turns that are otherwise safe (stops in the middle of the road with high-speed cross traffic), and hard emergency braking on very specific parts of certain roads. It's as if it's imagining a speed bump on a 45mph road.

Totally agree with your defense of V12! Some people still tell me how EVs catch on fire, self driving is dangerous, EVs have no range, yada yada. I tell them that a month is a lifetime in the EV and AI world with the lightning pace of innovation. Any story older than a month is ancient history with no resemblance to the present.

Thanks for the drive. I have same version on ‘24 M3 and I’ve experienced more interventions than on 12.5.4.2. Once it did not yield to merging traffic on highway which felt dangerous and very atypical. Once it flat overshot a simple left turn from a two-way street to a driveway and disengaged while blocking the lane of oncoming traffic. Another time in prepping for right turn from a stop sign it crept into the bike lane and nearly forced an oncoming (and clearly visible) bicyclist to have to veer into traffic to avoid collision with us. This version feels like a regression. Hoping v13 is a big improvement.

I was going to recommend you start driving at night as I think it is even more amazing than the day.

I agree with this. I work the 3-11 shift and the ride home is much smoother than going into work. Granted, there is less traffic but the car performs much better with smoother acceleration up to speed. When other cars are around it feels more cautious and hesitant. I have an hw3 M3 running 12.5.4.2 in Florida.

I am cautiously impressed with 12.5.6.3 in WA, especially during rain in the dark. It gets dark around 4 pm here during the winter, and so far the precipitation has not been a major hinderance for FSD. Really enjoying the highway stack. City streets still have speed control issues, but definitely improved. Stopping behavior is significantly improved (except for occasional late braking). Acceleration from a stop is reduced to "much more tame" which is not to my taste, but is not terrible.I do like the confident acceleration on highway when switching left to overtake. Speed profiles are fantastic. We need those at all speeds, not just highway. We need to aim to at least do the speed limit on city streets. Everything else is pretty much in the bag by now.

I was just thinking about thoes that party get drunk that would be a great car for that. However you shouldn’t be doing all that still. I don’t condone that, but if you’re at dinner having a drink is okay. I so want a Tesla just for that fsd!

You asked about the HW3 delays. I think HW3 is approaching end of life. The newer versions of FSD keep adding more scope/data points, which are required to improve the product, however HW3 cannot handle the additional data points required - both from a CPU processing and a memory standpoint - so code quantizing/optimization is required - which is a nice way of saying that HW3 versions aren't using the same number of inputs/data points, which is why we're already seeing better performance when comparing HW3 to AI4 FSD vehicles. I expect this gap to grow even larger with FSD v13. It's a bit disappointing because our 2023 MY LR is only 1.5 years old - and we're already stuck on older versions of FSD when compared to AI4 owners. While it's worth hoping that this might improve in the future, I honestly doubt it, this is likely the beginning of FSD for HW3 owners branching away from FSD for AI4 owners on a persistent basis. Hopefully Tesla will offer some kind of FSD hardware upgrade path considering the vast majority of their fleet is on HW3.

Thanks for sharing. It may very well come down to what's more cost effective, optimizing code for HW3 or retrofitting HW4.
@ysjrty8769Ай бұрын
@@BlackTesla just a small correction they are training a bigger model that can fit on HW4 but can't fit on HW3 so quanitzation / smaller model is requried that is trained on the same data points but shrinking the model for hw3 is causing it to fail in unknown ways due to difference in behavior compared to bigger model.
@nimasahabi9421Ай бұрын
I think the other issue is the cameras. I feel like the HW4 cameras are necessary for a smooth experience. I agree that HW 3 seems like it’s approaching end of life. Elon said that if they can’t achieve unsupervised autonomy, they will update the computers but not the cameras.

4:09 - wow! Love the assertiveness. I wouldn't have any issues with that either, but FSD definitely needs to commit like it did if it chooses to do that. Standard and Chill do scoot out of the passing lane, but like we saw I wish it would scoot over even in Hurry if it sees someone up close like that.

The shift to HW4 was under way the whole year 2023 - model 3 got it only in 2024. So there are quite some model 3 owners from 2017 until now, who bought FSD, never got more than a Beta and probably will never get FSD with HW3.

Although I own 2 HW3 cars I want Tesla to solve Autonomy first and foremost. HW3 can take a backseat until they do. I say that because I believe Autonomy will save countless lives.

I have a Plaid, HW4 in CA. I am not a fan of Hurry. It stays in the left lane and doesn’t move. Standard seems to be the sweet spot. It’s too slow in city streets. I always end up disengaging.

They're definitely gonna abandon HW3 lol. Maybe they'll do retrofits but idk I doubt it. I hope I'm wrong tho. Great drive btw. Tesla FSD has come a loooong way but I really wonder if they'll actually be able to achieve FSD with just vision.

New Hampshire 12.5.6.3 HW4 standard mode Accelerations from stops seem to be reasonable. with 6.3. I haven't had any 2G accelerations from a stop light for no reason. on 6.3. Overall smooth, confident, and controlled on the highway. I had an interesting merge - 2 lanes into 1. There was a car beside me as the merge started and FSD didn't seem inclined to accelerate to get in front of the car beside me or decelerate to get behind the car that was beside me. I canceled the game of chicken and disengaged. Speed control overall seems better, but if on 2ndard roads and going for example 45 to 30, the car doesn't decrease speed on its own & the scroll wheel had no impact. I had to disengage. There are a couple of towns near me that routinely deploy speed traps very close to speed zone changes; under ten typically isn't a problem 15 & over generates income for the town.
@BlackTeslaАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Merging has some issues see our first video on 6.3. This update also comes with or directly after or before a nav update. Check your software tab to see if you have the latest nav.

It continues to get into the left or right turn only lanes when it has to go straight. Aside from annoying, this is a safety issue if other cars don’t know what you’re doing and you take over to go straight

Tesla Model Y Performance, SC. I tried a night drive back from VA. and it wouldn't let you engage FSD for more than half the drive. There are no road lights on the interstate. Once you get closer to a city it starts letting you use it, but when you are on interstate with 0 lights, the little wheel goes away. FSD v12.5..4.2

@ispitrealshytАй бұрын
This wasn't really a small incremental update as it introduced the E2E highway stack. Thats a big deal if you drive on the highway often.
@cantdrivesloАй бұрын
I don't find these changes to be small at all. When I purchased mine, it was on fsd 11.xx, and since then, each progression has yielded major results. The only complaint I have is it still drives slower then the posted speed limits in most cases
@PinchOfLuckАй бұрын
@@cantdriveslo No I mean, anything past 12.5.6.X it is small potatoes and is not really revolutionary. Maybe, MAYBE you will notice some change in behaviour, some regression here and there, but in the end, you walk away with "Yeah they still have loads to do before it makes it acceptable for general public". 13 is suppose to do that. UNSUPERVISED. Until then, be happy with what you got, anything until 13 hits is going to be minor in comparisson.
