i think the only problem with ISL is broadcasting rights, broadcasting rights is the biggest way of income for the Clubs, but Star is at a time stake holder and also broadcasting partner. Where IPL sells their rights by bidding ISL can not, so income of the clubs are lower than it should be. But rather than this ISL is very beneficial for Football in India.

It will happen in time. You also have to take into consideration the duration of the league. Up till now, the league was only 4 months long which is not really beneficial to business companies as well but from next season it will be extended to 8 months and in the future possibly 10 months. So once there is stability in the league structure you will see many changes happen.

At one time there was 14 teams in I-LEAGUE & 16 in I-LEAGUE 2 but no. Of teams was not constant startup and shutdown of clubs was common at that time clubs ⚽ was very poor 🤮 thanks to FSDL & more to do

Dhanrai bhai I rem I league days with grassless pitches ,2 pm matches ,cheap African players in the name of forien coaches aur apne indian coaches ki philosophy thi ki chai biscuit Khao aur ground ke 4 chakar lagao..news of non payments to players was full..commercialisation is good for sport tabhi development hoti hai..o/w toh koi football dekhta hi nhi tha sirf West Bengal or goa mai nd Derby supporters

The only issue is that the money they earn they will not be obligated to put into grassroots and will go in their profit books. Unlike ipl where the money earnt goes into grassroots.

Second problem in FSDL - it is loss making for clubs. The league needs to be jointly owned by qualified clubs and federation. The clubs, federation should earn money by selling broadcasting right. Problem with FSDL is the ownership of league and profit from it is not reaching to franchises. We can not make clubs sustainable if they continue to lose money. If broadcasters owns the league, not the clubs why would anyone continue to run franchise and making loss. This system will collapse in another 5 yrs. if clubs are not owner of league.

And another problem is the impact of ISL is negligible in National team and also in grassroot. The money earned in this League is directly going to the owner's pocket as profit it is not used in developing football from grassroot level . And the performance of our National Team is still bad and embarrassing which shows ISL has negligible impact on Indian football team .

Also one more point is that parth jindal(ceo of bengaluru fc) has said more money in isl had lead to more losses . Even they were qualifying for afc through i league. So if clubs are not profiatble how will they put money in reserve teams, stadiums and grassroots. And there is no scope for low income teams to get entry into ISL as of now. No where else there is franchise fees to play in top division.

The main problem in FSDL era is number of matches. Example in 2010-11 ileague had 26 matches for each team. All the participating team also used to play (first team) their state league - Goa Pro, Calcutta. Along with two-three tournaments Fed Cup, IFA Shield, Durand. Total number of matches per footballing calendar year was close to 50 matches per club. ISL killed all our competitive football and exclusively restricted participation of top players in anything other than ISL. This lack of competitive matches are hindering out progress. Game time is the most import for progress in term of result.
