I have Fshd 49 yr old Man, haven't had any physical limitations but within the last year I get muscle pain sometimes and I slowed down on heavy lifting and working out. my aunt and my mom are similar to you and are both mostly unaffected at 50 and 60. my grandad was a teen onset as well as a nephew of his though.

I am currently in Natalie's position and have chosen not to find out. I know I have it as most my Dad's side have it. Our strain progresses late 20's to early 30's. As a former athelete, body builder and martial artist this is really hard to come to terms with. My once fitness model physique is dwindling especially in the pectoral region. My partner is currently pregnant and watching this video has made me cry . Our strain is less aggressive and appears similiar to Bill's.

I have FSH and sometimes I think that they should legalize assisted suicide for people who have muscular dystrophy. When I was first diagnosed in 2016 my mom told me that the suicide rate for people who have this is actually very high-end now that were in 2021 it has gotten worse than it was a few years ago even. Sometimes I just don't want to live like this anymore. I'm tired of the comments and the stares. I'm tired of not being able to do things any normal person can do.

@Tgon Mwort MD is a blanket term for many types of Dystrophies - FSHD, Duchenne, Becker, Limb Girdle. What you’re talking about is Nutritional Myopathy. FSHD is autosomal dominant which means it can be inherited and is congenital. The treatment for this is NOT selenium.

As other people have said it's different for everybody but for me, in early childhood I was fine. Around 12-13 is when the pain began for me.

Yes. I started having trouble walking in my 30s. It felt like one side of my body didn't work well with the other side of my body. It was odd because I thought walking was so easy in my 20s.
