ok , Clemson started off stronger but then FSU just took over and finished the show.

Chief alum from 97-98 here, this reminds me of so many good times, great games, and a perfect marching records. Big 8 is the reason why Chiefs have never lost a halftime.

Man, when I was 13 I had all big 8s cadences on a CD. I had em all memorized and would play along to it on my little practice pad. 17 years later, I'm crying cuz I remember everything. It was my dream to be big 8 snare player. 💖
@ChuckieDrumz9 ай бұрын
I had it too dude! Used to try to memorize sequence and cap’n cotton on tenors! We used it in my HS drumline to learn Haitian Hustle!

Both drumlines rocked it the fuck out but the red head on cymbals from FSU was giving me so much life...lol
@HE3604 жыл бұрын
Well, both drumlines were great. But here, I'd say Clemson is getting a taste of their own medicine because everytime I see them, another drumline has to sit and listen to Clemson's super long never ending cadences lol. But now, FSU is doing it. But, that's ok!! It's still great! I enjoyed both! lol

The video sound covers up lots of the dirt. Being there, I can tell you that Clemson was much dirtier. Though I might have a little bias since I go to FSU. But at the same time, I am a drummer, so I know what I hear.

@jkx04 actually, there have been members of showbands that have marched the snare and tenor lines of the blue devils, stop putting drumming and percussion in a box as drummers we have the right to be expressive and innovative. drumming is drumming whether show style or corps.

clemson has some nice chops but theyre too uptight and sloppy. the tenors had a period of latency during the 2nd cadence and the tonals at 5:46 were extremely sloppy. tonals are a very underated part of a line, and the big 8 are a perfect example of good tonals. it takes a lot of skill to play haitian hustle on the bass drums. the big 8 focuses more on being a unified drumline with few errors rather than focusing on chops like clemson.
@shorome212 жыл бұрын
FSU has flavor and good choreography....but they cant hang with clemson in pure musicianship...
@USMC434113 жыл бұрын
As great as this video is, c'mon, Big8 .... can we retire Haitian Hustle (6:00) please? I was there in '98 and we were hacking on that back then when the two Marcus's were running the line. At least change it up a little like Sequence for crying out loud.

with clemson the tenors sound weird kinda like the drums are being dampened so either bad zones or bad tuning but thats my only complaint with fsu all i can hear is the cymbals which i know is not their fault but it just seemed weird clemson wins

I am no doubting that at all....I like those latin rhythms that they incorporated into the second cadence...however...minus the eye candy and the flavor....the rhythm did not require as much skill musically...I think if FSU had to play the second cadence that clemson played, it would expose some of the individuals because the cadence required a higher level of mastery of rudiments and of the instrument youre playing....but FSU seemed way more entertaining in this vid
