Hello Sir, great job! Yes its 2020 and I finally purchased a the saitek throttle and Honeycomb yoke with thrustmaster rudder pedals. Other KZbinrs boast about these products but never explain the difficulties setting it up for FSX. I plan on purchasing the new FS 2020 when It comes out and building my power computer in anticipation. I am glad that you took the time and efforts in helping us overcome this dilemma...GREAT JOB!

Well I suppose there has to be one, but I have to wonder why it's always me! I started using FSX in 2008 on MS Vista with no problems. Due to moving and work committments everything went into storage in 2016 and I've only now managed to rebuild and install FSX Steam Edition, now with vastly upgraded computer hardware. With rudder pedals and joystick I've been flying my Cirrus Moth all over the U.K. without any problems. However, upon mounting my Yoke and throttle quadrant things took a sinister turn. The quadrant throttle was either 50% or 100% power which resulted in some exiting takeoffs, landings, and subsequent crashes. As I mentioned earlier, my joystick along with it's throttles worked perfectly but with multiple attempts at assigning the quadrant levers along with calibration resulted in no change to them at all. I ended up using the joystick throttles while I tried to resolve the issue. I then realised that my master switches in FSX were turning themselves on and of at random. I had one of those days when I tried everything to fix the problem to no avail when, suddenly, a miracle occurred and they started working. It certainly wasn't anything to do with me! Having found your excellent video on FSUIPC I realised that this was the answer and purchased the download/registration. I then proceeded to follow the instructions in the video to the letter. I know you're already well ahead of me and, yes, you're correct, absolutely nothing changed. Except the flaps don't work either now. Well, I say don't work. They've come out in sympathy with the throttles and are either fully up or fully down meaning my take-offs at Post Mills and elsewhere get interesting. I've trawled all over the internet and discovered that others have had this problem and invariably resolved it with FSUIPC or Spad.neXt (which I haven't tried yet presuming I need to get FSUIPC working first?). I also note that one or two people have had less than pleasant encounters with SimFlight trying to resolve issues and on that basis, and before I go into combat with them, and without taking up any more of your valuable time, can you offer an outstretched arm and point me in a direction that might help me resolve my problems? Either way, your tutorials are first rate and have also stood the test of time! Many thanks.

Hi Terry and firstly a huge thank you for your kind words, it's very much appreciated! I'm really glad you like the tutorials, although it's a shame you are having the issues that you describe. I have to be honest and say it's been literally years since I fired up flight sim, maybe 4 years or so! Similar to yourself, life's situation changed, and the time I did spend on the gaming rig was spent on truck sim and train sim lol. Anyway, I feel your pain, as in the past I had similar control issues, but it was usually a case of config conflict between fsuipc/spad vs the config of fsx. In truth I'm not even sure that I have fsuipc and spad even installed anymore, but I will check and get back to you. The only suggestion I can offer right now is to make sure that there are no controls configured in fsx that clash with fsuipc or spad. Given the years that have passed since I last did any flight sim, and even more years since making the tutorials, I would even have to search KZbin for more recent guides myself lol. Sorry I can't help more at this stage, but I wish you good luck in sorting things out!!! All the best, Nige

Hi Imtiaz, thanks for the kind comment and I'm glad you liked the video. From your description of the problem it seems that you may have the mid value of the throttle incorrectly set. My settings are -512 on the top and 512 on the bottom, but depending on your controller I guess the value for you could be different.

hello good evening steeler. Now new a have purchased a Flightstick from Virpil (Constellation Alpha). I have problems to program this stick in the FSUIPC, this means the axis like elevator and ailerons. I can not identify the stick in the axis assignments. In the FSX all the axis a have removed. Seems you do the MIN MAX calibrations clicks backwards. Full Right is MAX on the right. Full Left in MIN on the left.

Brilliant video, thank you. Can I just ask... I've built a PC mainly for use with FSX...(first time build) but I've installed Windows 10... What problems did you have when you tried Fsx with win 10? I installed it (not steam) & the service packs, it seems to work okay but sometimes crashes. I have also tried to install some hardware (BIP & instrument panel) but they don't work. Any feedback or advice will be very much appreciated. Ryan

+Keith Skool the problems I had with Win10 were mainly around the Saitek hardware. I have multiple Saitek hardware, and I found that one or more would not get recognised when using them at the same time. As soon as I went back to Windows7, I had no such issues, so it seems to be some kind of USB load/recognition issue with Win10. Re. your panels, are they Saitek ? If so, are you using SPAD Next, which is a set of replacement drivers and I would recommend that you download and install that. If your FSX is crashing, then it could perhaps be running out of memory ? What error messages, if any, do you get ?

+Steelerboiy thanks very much for your reply. I've tested the panels independently... The saitek switch/ multi / radio panel work okay... As does the yoke. It's just the BIP doesn't work at all, and the instrument panel switches on (but only displays the ads for other saitek products ) I've tried both usb 2.0 & 3.0. during a flight it starts okay (without any hardware installed) but after a couple of minutes I get the error message 'Microsoft flight simulator has encountered a problem & needs to close.' so frustrating, as I built the PC to use specifically with FSX. I was running FSX on an old PC with vista, and the hardware was fine then. Will try the other drivers you mentioned. My gtx 660ti was dodgy, so I'm running my PC at the moment with Intel's integrated 4600 graphics until I get a new gpu (prob a 960 4gb). Had it locked at 30fps which runs smooth enough but when I up the fsx graphics settings it was still crashing. I've just added a 2nd monitor (aoc i2369vm) and now it rarely crashes?? Interesting. I've got my instruments running on a 10in usb touchscreen (using panel builder software) and it works brilliantly. I haven't added the saitek hardware to the set up yet, but will install the SPAD software first and let you know how I get on (will upload a vid once done) thanks again for

Minus key. If it's still to far in you have to go into fsx.cfg and change the line WideViewAspect=False to WideViewAspect=True. Line is in the [Display] section. C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG

Hello. I have a problem with my FSUIPC4, and i was realy hoping YOU could help me.So i downloaded the FSUIPC because i was making a overhead panel and i needed to program it so that when i pusht a button or switch it whould happen on the FSX Steam edition to. Like a taxilight for example. So on FSUIPC i programed my yoke,quadrant and rudder pedals. And everything worked fine. All buttons and axees worked. But straight away when i for example programed a button on taxilight, i whould then push the button/switch and nothing whould happen in FSX. FSUIPC does registrate the buttons/switches but something is stopping it from working in fsx. I then deleted the hole of FSUIPC and re-installed it. And it still didnt work! I dont know what is wrong and i have tried fixing it for a very long time, but now i realy need some help. System info: FSX steam edition,FSUIPC (payd), Leobodnar chip (for buttons/switches),windows 8,PMDG 737 ngx, If any question PLEAS ask,And pleas help me.

Hi there, I don't have X-Plane myself, so I can't really help with this one. However I did a quick Google search and found an article which may come in useful for you. Check out www.spadnext.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=439 which appears to suggest that uninstalling the drivers would not influence X-Plane at all. Hope that helps ! :)

Win 10: Do not install FSX steam on your C drive if possible because if it is in the program files folder there are all kind of Windows permission hoops it has to jump through. I installed the steam games folder on a spare drive-=no permission issues!

I'am a FAA certified Private Pilot of 60 yrs experience flying CESSNA single engine aircraft. After open heart surgery I've decided to try Flight Simulators, I'am a new-bee at all of this, what I'm unsure about is how to install Microsoft Flight Sim programs on my HP Z400 computer. I don't want to be connected to the internet due to bad experiences with virus infections in the past, my question is, can I purchase FSX Steam on a disc to install on my computer ?

Hi Thom, FSX Steam version is only available via Steam itself, so you would definitely need the Internet connection. However you could still get a disk version of FSX from Ebay or maybe Amazon or perhaps you may have a local shop that sells new or used PC games. Keep in mind that Microsoft has now released their brilliant new version of Flight Simulator, which is far superior to FSX, but I believe you would again need an internet connection for that. Hope that helps, and hasn't just confused you lol :)
