they do take off with ful thrust. that reduces take off roll, increases runway leftover in case of a RTO and also enables a steep climb upon departure (20°)

hey hey :D it's obvious that this video is far from reality - some errors were even intended. i'm not a real pilot and that's just a game [Microsoft Flight Simulator X], we have some limitations here. that was just fun, clumsy imitating reality. don't get too serious about that:D also, i thin'k it doesn't look that awesome - it had been done before my computer was upgraded and additionally the capturing program caused a big framerate drop. all in all - thanks for comments and watching.

The AP settings such as IAS, HDG, ALT,... can be set whenever desired, even on the ground. They don't take any effect until the AP/CMD button is activated which enables the autopilot to use the settings' values. It's like setting your game's settings before clicking Apply/OK.

depends on the weight, length of runway, the aircraft, weather, alititude of the runway and noise restrictions. Pilots always calculate the legnth of runway needed with a less than lower full thrust, so they know for sure the aircraft can takeoff. Then they apply the less then full thrust (say 90% N1?) and if in an emergency they can hit the throtle all the way up to full. It depends though

This is flight simulator, before flight, you can plan out what should or whats going to happen, and you can make failures from that. Fires, failure, power anything.

You right. No power means no hydralic power to move the flight surfaces, so the plane was stuck as it was and crashed.

No, you do not lose the steering because a small propell pops out when you lose power. The little proppel prowides just enough power to the steering.

Why does your description say, "Remember, more than 350 people have died in the 737." It seems like you're implying it's unsafe. It's the world's best-selling airliner. Its safety record is fantastic, the only reason there have been 3500 deaths is because of how many were built, and because of how many older ones end up in countries who don't have money for proper maintenance.

guys, if complete power and engine is shut down then you have nothing, you'd also note that turbulance did damage the plain making it unflyable which pilot didn't realise till it was too late, so cut him some slack, he did better than most real pilots would do in thi situation.

Mauritius international to Kuwait international is over 3000 nautical miles (nm) 1 nm = 1.852 km 3000 nm = 5,556 km so unless u travel a direct route (which never happens in aviation), have nothing onboard except the pilot+fuel and catch an awesome tailwind there is absolutely no way a 737-800 will make it.

apu is switched off shortly after engine start on pushback, then is switched on just prior to landing or when taxying onto stand. it consumes fuel so why use it when there are two good engines? The electrical providing tool is normally the battery, and a RAT (ram air turbine) which is a small fan and dynamo that generates electricity, (not effective below 160kts).

This is a modern plane, and modern planes have an APU(Auxilery Power Unit) Which is located in the back of the plane and provides most of the power. So either the plane got struck by lighting or the APU wasn't on at all. The APU is supposed to provide emerngency electricity if somthing like this happens. Are there any other possiblities?

Oh, by the way - I have never claimed that it would happen due to thunder strike. I just set those malfunctions up, just like that. But taking into account, that shit happens in THE REAL LIFE TOO, no one knows ... As far as I remember, i set up: 1. both engines fire 2. both engines complete failure within next few minutes 3. complete hydraulics failure 4. complete aileron failure [because of 'imagined' heavy turbulence, bad luck and manufacturing defect] 5. complete electricity failure

it's for fun. there was no such crash in mauritius. All the failures where planned and programmed through the failures menu in fsx. plane obviously stalled due to lack of thrust and damaged ailerons... Of course, i'm very glad that real pilots don't fly in the same way:))

The point of the game is to learn something about airplanes or just fly around and have fun with them. you can`t call Microsoft Flight Simulator X a game it is a SIMULATION. doing missions is fun too.

he WANTED the engines off. it's how he imagined the scenario. flying tips are pretty useless when u try to set up your own story. In this case flying tips were saying to engage the engines. But they had to be off if u want to simulate an engine fire/failure.

oh dear, you little armchair pilots. firstly the aircraft would never depart, because pilots are too sensible that this. Secondly, if both engines went down, the aircraft has a basic electrical pump (POWERED BY THE RAT) to keep main control surfaces (ie not flaps, spoilers) going. Then lightning cannot destroy the engines because the aircraft is airborne, this means that the strike simply flows through the body of the aircraft. Google Faraday Cages, this explains it.
