Devlin is hands down the most talented grime artist the U.K. has produced. The fact he dealt with Wiley at 15 says it all. The first grime artist as stated to put meaning into his tunes, community outcast is a masterpiece. He definitely deserved more hype and credit. But everyone born in the early 90s that grey up listening knows what he did and is about

FACTS BRO! I'm old school, 48 next month, used to rave to jungle which morped into drum & bass back in the 90, plus used to play on a couple pirate radio station in south, still got my vinyls, but the grime came after, i was never really into it but respected a couple of the mc's...Devlin was problems from day 1 and i could never understand why he never blew up like Ghetts..who i think is siick. But he must not of wanted that type of lifestyles, (just as i typed this he's saying he doesn't really do interviews or live shows rather just make music lol) 😎👍🏾

I can’t believe he has an album coming. He only recently released Eyes For The Blind and that plus A Moving Picture, are probably my fav Devlin Albums. I just wish that he got the love that he deserves. Sometimes I wonder if Artists like Devlin, ever doubt themselves. Like Devlin is 1 of the best artists in the U.K. and has been for many years but because he don’t get as much recognition, maybe he feels that he isn’t as good as he actually is. If Devlin stuck to pure grime, I’d probably have got bored , like I did with most of grime but Devlin brings so many styles and he’s matured so much over the years. That eyes for the blind was incredible and I have a feeling the upcoming album will be on a similar vibe. Bit of everything.
@onaematopia10 ай бұрын
@@grahamkelly8662I also wish that he got the love that he deserves, he’s definitely the best in the UK, even Wiley has said multiple times that Devlin is the best MC. I remember a year or two ago, Devlin said he’s retiring & I was so sad. I’m glad he’s not stopping, I feel like he still has a lot left in him & he should prove why he’s the best (to the people that don’t know) I hope he doesn’t doubt himself or feel that he isn’t good enough, because he is. Even if he doesn’t/didn’t get the recognition he deserves, a lot of us know how great he is I love Grime & Devlin so I don’t think I would’ve got bored if he stuck to pure Grime (although Grime isn’t the same anymore 😢) but I love that he does other genres too. Tbh, I care more about Devlin’s lyrics than the beats he chooses, although that’s important too. One of my favourite Devlin songs ever is “Blue Skies”, which isn’t a Grime song, and it’s because of the theme of the song & how it makes me feel. I don’t think it would’ve impacted me the same if it was a Grime beat. I think he’s one of the best storytellers ever & he’s definitely matured. I hope his new album is a mixture of “pure Grime” & storytelling songs like Blue Skies, Community Outcast etc
@grahamkelly866210 ай бұрын
@@onaematopia yep, Devlin really is incredible. I personally think he’s in his prime, now. Many artists get worse as they get older, same with sportsman etc but Devlin is like a fully matured Whiskey. He just gets better and better. I honestly think if he releases a few more albums, they will be his best. He has so many lanes and styles and he always seems to hit pure gold. Only album I’ve not bought, is Bud sweat & beers. Wasn’t super keen on it but I’ve not listened enough, to make up mind mind on it.

I absolutely loved grime, everyone knew it was my genre when no one else was listening. All my friends were listening to happy hardcore and rave music, I loved hip hop, R&B and then moved into grime. Initially I think the beats drew me in, the tempo worked for my brain. Lyrically there wasn’t really anyone that blew me away, until I heard Devs on a set and I was blown away. This was the times when you had to wait up for pirate sets, some that had just started video streaming, try and make sure the broadband was ok, rip sets and get them on lushforums. To this day, there isn’t many people that can touch Devs, given he was 17 at the time it’s just staggering how lyrically capable he was. That secures legendary status. I’d love to see him and Ghetts together now, I keep hoping for a B2B feature on an album. If I didn’t know who Devs was, I’d never have met my ex or had children when I did, that’s literally a madness 😂
