not to mention incredibly easy to do improperly!! I had bought a binder when I first came out, not realizing it was just for cosplay. I did not use it safely, would use it in pools and when running the mile in gym class. I still think i have a bend in my ribcage for running in that binder nearly 3 years ago now... Awful feeling, and I still have trouble breathing well. Now, I only use a binder if im in public and cant wear a jacket. (sometimes i use old sports bras because i feel they have more breathing room than the average binder.) I'm only an a? smal b? cup, but Im quite thin and only 5'7", so if im in a tank top its easy to see. Its so hot, I wish I could just walk around shirtless :,) Summer is a trans guys nightmare I guess haha

Agreed. Its not as if cis men dont have breast tissue, like 'moobs' is a thing. Just because you have some breast tissue doesnt mean people are going to assume you're trans. I know cis men can feel self conscious about having some breast tissue too, but the point is it isnt something that people will automatically think a person must be trans.

Love the video! I am a cis woman and have had breast reduction surgery. When I decided to do it, at my consultation, the surgeon made it clear that I needed to wait for a year or more and discuss the matter with my psyc. She said it was a major surgery that is going to impact my life and she needed me to be sure about it. I waited and never changed my mind. When I went to my primary doctor to get the referral, the nurses really gave me a hard time. One even said I should be glad I had a huge bustline because she wanted implants. I also got tons of crap from family and friends. And even now 15 years later, I'm questioned why I had the surgery. Simply: No one, I mean no one, looked at my face... there were constant jokes and references made to the boobadge and I was humiliated on a regular basis. Not a healthy psyche builder. I decided to accept my husbands marriage proposal because he knew what color my eyes are. I can totally understand why a person would need their body to align with who they are and would tell anyone who asked "should I?", a huge resounding yes. Be who you are and damn the torpedoes! You guys are a huge inspiration. ♡♡♡♡♡

I feel uncomfortable about my chest and want to get breast reduction surgery when I'm older, but my chest is average. I'm completely sure I'm cis,my chest is average or even smaller than average and I've had no staring problems or jokes whatsoever because of it,it just looks and feels weird on my body. Maybe it's because I'm 14 and up to a year ago I was almost flat but then puberty hit in,maybe I'll get used to it in a few years, but I still hate to see it.

I actually cried. I am only 19 and my doctors tell me I am too young to make these kinds of decisions. Although I am young I still always get comments about "boobage". I have on many accounts gotten mad and said I'm a person and I'm more than just boobs and straight up got "no you're just tits" even if it's supposed to be like a joke or something it still plays over and over in my head. There's nothing that brings me more joy/confidence about this than reading how well this worked for you.

Thanks for making this video. I don't bind because of my health problems, it causes me too much pain, so even though it often stops me from passing because my chest is noticeable I still don't. My bf is cisgender male and has bigger "boobs" than Ty. Many men have noticeable boobs either because they're trans or multiple reasons and I don't find it bothering or disgusting or any reason to doubt about a male being male. I understand that many FTM do it for self comfort but I think it's very important to make visible the reality of many men having boobs as many women don't have them (or have really small ones).

I noticed that I have more dysphoria when I wear a binder. Because if I don't bind (when I'm alone), I can somehow ignore my chest, but if I do, I can feel the binder around my chest, my ribs, my stomach, and it still doesn't bind perfectly, so it makes me very dysphoric. (But at the same time, there's no way I'll go out without a binder on... So I just don't leave the house most of the time.)

Baby oil also helps with scars a bit but it needs to be applied regularly. A few years ago I self harmed a lot more than I do now, and I had thick scars and unfortunately at one point carved words into my thighs, I was depressed and drunk and stupidly did it. I regretted it afterwards and my aunt put makeup on my thighs to hide the scars around my Grandmother and mother when I had to go shopping for bathing suits. When I got back she told me to just regularly use baby oil on the scars, now it's not noticeable at all the few marks that are still visible just seem like stretch marks. So that is also a good alternative if your patient though.

Technically speaking, the NHS isn't free because it's mostly funded through National Insurance payments taken from our wages. The downside to the NHS is the longer waiting lists - I spoke to my doctor a year ago and I am still waiting for my first appointment with the psychiatrist - and I need two appointments and blood tests before I go anywhere near my first T shot. In fact I probably won't get my first shot until late next year! :(

I'm really glad I watched this video, before watching it I NEVER considered not binding, even though I have a pretty small chest to begin with. I completely relate to having more dysphoria while binding than not, the uncomfortableness of the binder just reminded me that something was there. Hearing that you went from a b-cup to that, is absolutely amazing and gives me lot of hope...thank you😊

Buy one and see how you feel in it! Just because someone with a bigger chest than you doesn't bind doesn't mean that you shouldn't. And on the inverse side of things, don't feel pressured to bind just because most trans guys do it.

I don't even know my size, but they are pretty big. I just wear hoodies. I honestly think I notice them more than anyone else does because strangers always refer to me as "he" They do bother me though, but I'm overweight, and want to loose some weight before drooping 50+ bucks on a binder.

Maybe just a kind of undergarment that only slightly compresses will help? I know binding can sometimes be painful if you wear it too long, but maybe something less powerful can assist whilst not having such detrimental effects? I don't know a ton about binding, but I understand that there is a wrong way to do it. My thought is that maybe less risk for improper binding can be had while still achieving the look you need can be possible. (I wish that was possible for me. I'm a D cup and all of this can be very scary for me at times.)

i binded for two years until i decided to lose a lot of weight in the hope that my chest would be smaller. i lost A Lot of weight in a rather unhealthy timeframe, but i had never been at a healthy weight in my life so it was a new experience for me. i never realised how huge the social difference was for Skinny people; it was like a new lease on life lol. so i spent a few years experimenting with my self-expression as a girl and identity as a lesbian. i had never had girl-friends(like the buddy kind), or spent much time outdoors or did sports, i never even felt attractive. but eventually when i got used to it i found that the feelings of transness were back, and if anything my chest was more prominent on a smaller frame. i also found out that i have a really feminine body shape that i never thought about before losing weight. but what actually affected me the most was men/people feeling more entitled to comment on my body than ever. i didn't expect family etc to keep talking about my body even years on. i didnt expect peers to comment on my chest. the acknowledgment made it worse. and eventually i realised that the feelings hadn't went away and that i had just buried them for a time, and refused to think about it. and that my worsening mental state was because of this despite me ignoring it. but i feel like i needed the time to grow as a person. and feel even more hopeful that i can one day be happy in a body and role that fits me :) gl trans fam!!!! ur all powerful

+hello world! Don't use anything to bind other than a binder. I'm guessing the double sports bra method is okay too but it doesn't bind as well as you'd want it to unless your chest is really small to begin with. Getting a binder from a reliable source online is honestly a really really good investment, if you can't order it to your house because of family try and get a friend to order it for you. If their parents won't approve of it and the friend is a cis girl convince the parent it's just a sports bra she's getting you as a present.

Underworks makes a compression sports bra. It sucks but it's what we have. I hate bras. But never ever bind under strenuous circumstances. If it's active go with a sports bra. It is made to move with you. Binders are not.

From a straight man. Ty your chest looks great. You are too masculine to look anything else. Don't get top surgery. You don't need it, any surgery is a risk. I think you both look amazing, And even though you haven't had the surgery yet you honestly cant really tell. Props to both of you for finding that confidence and love in your true bodies!

It’s cool re watching this video years later. It’s been almost two years since I came out the closet and started living my truths as a trans man. I’m having top surgery in three weeks on the 26th of October. I bought a binder last year but being chest heavy it didn’t really do anything to truly conceal. My chest did go down by losing weight and working out more but yeah I just stuck to wearing sports bras until I get top surgery. I’m beyond excited for my top surgery! I know personally for my mental health and dysphoria is highly on my chest. I know I’ll feel better and finally look like what I see In my head. I’m having top surgery at 28 years old. It’s been a very long time coming and I’m ready. It’s nice seeing this video again knowing freedom is weeks away for me. I am so thankful and blessed (privileged) to finally be able to have this procedure done. 🙏🏽✊🏽

I bind regularly, like every time I leave the house (unless I'm working out). I feel very panicked when I'm around people and not wearing my binder. Part of that is because (firstly I'm pre-t) I have a DD chest and its very OBVIOUS, and I have to be wearing something to feel comfortable. Even when I'm home alone or sleeping, I'm wearing a sports bra because its just uncomfortable otherwise. I plan on getting top surgery once I'm past 18 and I'm excited to not have the pain in my back, trouble breathing, feeling overly attached to my binder, having to not pass when I'm working out, etc after I have surgery.

I've been binding for about 2 years now (jesus) and the first binder I got was from one of those free binder programs, it was a used Velcro one and after a while the Velcro was so used that it wouldn't stay together and I had to use duct tape to tape it and then that stopped working too so I decided to put a sports bra over it, but that hurt and so I got another binder from a friend and wore that for a while until I got the one I have now that I won in a giveaway, turns out the binder I had been wearing was actually two sizes too small. It hurt like hell I had to take pain pills the ought the day to manage it. But luckily I have this binder, even though I still get dysphoria because I still see a bump and feel like I'm not as flat as I should be. But yeah that's my binding story so far. Who knows when I'm getting top surgery or even starting T. I turn 18 May 4th of next year. First things first, legal name change.
