I know this is an older vid but you are right. Before gen 6 every shiny was a pallets swap. So if parts shared a colour like mawhiles eyes vs mouth it would change and be the same. The 3d models was when they first were able to pick the shiny colours and why many shinys got muted

It's actually a big misconception that every shiny is a palette swap/chosen via algorithm, and as I said there's no official confirmation if there's any truth to it, but there's numerous pre gen6 shinies that conflict with that myth, especially in gen 5 where James Turner, the designer of Golurk, said that other people were in charge of shiny colours and he wished he could have designed shiny Golurk himself.

Nope, I only play on original hardware. To this day I don't know exactly why, but the current theory my friends and I can conjure is that it was a random v1.0 bug. There's a few threads online talking about the same issue but the causes didn't apply to me so *shrug*

For the Abra, if you had it in your pokedex and used the repeat ball, it would’ve been a 74.8% catch rate 😅 100% catch rate if you used spore or stun spore with repeat ball 😅 Congrats on the shinies though!

Ultra Ball alone is 62% and that was good enough for me lol, I wasn't going to get a lvl 54 Shroomish just for a pokemon that wasn't my target nor did I care for if I failed. Also repeat ball's 78.46%.

Repel lvl 12 don't work for only have mawile and galekid ?

It does work, but the time it takes to get an encounter with it is excruciatingly slow and I was advised against doing it from others that've done hunts here.

I shiny hunt full odds too bro, it all depends how you feel. When I'm feeling full odds then I go full odds, but I do shiny charm hunts too. If you enjoy full odds, you enjoy it. If you enjoy shiny charm then you enjoy it. Its all about personal preference, and not to answer for him but that's how I feel about it

@@spacegh0st177 You've pretty much summarized for me lol. I like when my hunts are longer bc they're a lot more memorable that way and are able to have a story attributed to them, which is why you don't see me get irritated when phasing or failing. If you go back to some of my gen 6-8 vids I usually got those in just 2-4 days, even without charm, so they tend to hold less value to me personally and I sometimes forget I did them in the first place. I mostly stick with gen 5 for hunting since it's the gen I sink the most time into naturally and the hunts there are very interesting (shaking grass, swarms, lots of cool repel tricks and legendaries). I actually used to be a method hunter back in 2015-2017; got the shiny charm legit in Alpha Sapphire, Omega Ruby, and Ultra Moon, and did nearly 100 Masuda hunts in AS (Was not a fan of Dexnav/SoS) so it's not like I was always against using it, I just eventually developed enough patience to hunt in older games without it. I remember when I got impatient after just 1k SRs in gen 6 and now that's my daily quota lol. Hopefully that answers your question.

@@Elite4W Oh, thanks! I know some people enjoy the challenge. I could never hunt in these old games haha. I hunted a little bit in Gens 6 and 7 without the charm, though. I actually found a random shiny horde Cubchoo while looking for a Vanillite in XY. Now that I have the charm in Swsh, I’ve started my Masuda hunt for a shiny Tyrunt. Also, this is Inky from Lucariocord. :)
