@@davelanger FTR Tony and the ref all basically agreed in unison that AEW's shitty tag team matches are garbage in the beginning of this very podcast by saying they have "chaotic indie" matches. It wasn't untill FTR actually came that tag matches in AEW started to look halfway like an actual athletic competition with rules and not a complete cluster fuck of flips and dives and no rules. If I have a restaurant that has mostly Italian dishes on the menu I can say I respect Italian food all I want but if the food is garbage and not genuine Italian food then it's not respect it's amateur fantasy food that kids would do.

There was one spot where they hit Gargano on the knee with the tag belt when the ref's back was turned, and Gargano sold crippling pain. I just knew they were going to pin Gargano and couldn't bear to look when the ref began the count. Gargano kicked out, DIY won the belts, and I rejoiced like a good little mark.

If you look at the way FTR talks about wrestling and if you look at the way the Young Bucks talk about wrestling you can see a night and day difference. With FTR you can see a complete respect and reverence for the business and it'd history and icons and they understand why the old timers did it the way they did. And on BTE Matt Jackson does skits where he mocks technical wrestling. Just typical teenagers who arrogantly think they know a better way than the adults. With FTR YOU see them geek out constantly about wrestling and trying to strategize about how to do matches with psychology and sports based presentation and then you see Matt Jackson double suplexing two guys bigger than him in a match.
