FTTH in the rural area of Noordoostpolder, Netherlands

In response to the growing demand for faster broadband connections by businesses and households in the rural area of Noordoostpolder, the municipal government, assisted by consultancy firm Stratix, rolled out a fibre-to-the-home network to all underserved homes and businesses. The municipality came up with an innovative business model and triggered the market’s attention by through a communication campaign in order to secure demand by the inhabitants of the area. A newly established local operator, FiberFlevo, was selected as the winner to deploy the infrastructure.
