Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

How can we own our crypto in a hardware wallet and still stake it? I thought if we hold it we can't invest it. We have to trust people with our money to get a return on it, right?

Many networks let you stake your coins or tokens "on-chain", meaning you don't have to trust anyone, and you can still earn a yield. Not all chains let you do this, for example, Bitcoin has no native staking feature.

From what I understand, hard wallets are the most secure because they are physically with you at all times and only connected to the internet/other wallets and exchanges when you want it. A soft wallet is on the device or whatever you are using, meaning that device is acting as your wallet. They are both safe, but a hard wallet is "safer" because when youre done with it it is in your physical hard wallet that cannot go anywhere you dont want it. Just don't lose you keys. (If you need more info theres are a lot of resources explaining it.)

Great Video - Sadly common sense in crypto is about as rare as unicorns. Note that while centralized exchanges like FTX caused the problem, the fact that they were centralized is not necessarily the problem but the people who ran them. Equity exchanges like NYSE and NASDQ are centralized and operate perfectly well mostly because they are run by competent individuals.

MetaMask is a browser extension executed locally on your computer. If the MetaMask website is down, you can still run your MetaMask and access your funds.

Apart from the security that this presentation shows, the etherium blockchain system is base on staking which is what the central bank system is. As well etherium is centrally managed and can increase etherium tokens at will which is what the current central banking system does. If you want real hard money Bitcoin is the only digital store of value in the world.

@@Mattloxy The Petro dollar is collapsing. The Fed is propping up the dollar by both raising interest rates and pumping liquidity into the system at the same time. The hyperinflation is going to kick in over spring and summer. I will never sell my bitcoin but only use them as collateral for loans of fiat. This allows me to operate in the fiat system while holding my wealth in the hardest store of value ever invented. As well, there's no tax event created. I advise you to do the same ASAP. It's going to be a wild ride over this year and next.

The difference is the major global banks _Also_ control the underlying equities and bond markets they trade/invest in. Moreover, *when* they lose enough, the Fed just conjures up currency to bail them out. As long as crypto is mentally and emotionally tied to the U$D (example: 1 BTC = X U$D), it will always be a scam.

Is the " ideology " around crypto to develop an *_Alternative_* currency other than U$D, or is the " ideology " to create a *_Proxy_* currency directly linked to U$D? ~ Proxy meaning substitute or in place of - one currency which moves _in Concert_ with another to *hedge* the risk in the other currency. ~ Alternative meaning something that is mutually exclusive so that if one is chosen the other must be rejected. Would you agree or disagree that A Proxy currency that is pegged to the U$D is nothing more than a subset of U$D, and in all reality functions exactly like casino chips which represent a U$D value depending on the casino owner that that issues and redeems the chips (tokens). Here in Vegas, we all know that The primary reason casinos prefer chips over cash is because chips add _mental separation between the gambler and his valuable money._ (Credit cards do the same mental trick) And as we also know, the house always wins - as they take a 10% cut when they pay the winners with the _Losers_ money...always converted back to U$D.
