Having a wander around the Castlegate on Boxing Day seeing what’s there now and what I can remember from days gone by.

Grew up in marischal court since born in mid 80s and 90s early 2000s then bk in forth to ma aul dears since she moved out 7 years ago .i remember everything love ma home ill be bk ats far all ma loons are fae ,ace vid pal👌the 3 shop down from the carlton was Chalmers bakery and the gail good feelows solicitors was a hairdresser cana mind iname but uv was nae far aff fit i was thinking lol the little shop on the corner of salvation army was awee Indian shop with antiques few names cant mind

Places I remember from Aberdeen in the 80s .... Cousins, The Other Record Shop, The Cotton Club, "Charlies" (Charlie Brown's), Aberdeen indoor market, The market stalls at the bottom of the Back Wynd, Aitken's Bakery, "Eesies" (Cafe ICI), Bruce Millers (and the Howf), the Capital Theatre, the Odeon Cinema, the ABC Cinema, Bakers of Union St., Fine Fare at the Bridge of Dee, Aberdeen College of Commerce (or College of Comedy, as we preferred to call it), Radars, Bon Accord baths, Bon Accord drinks, The "Crit" (Criterion bar), Henry J Bean’s, Carmine's (Italian cafe) ... many more. There used to be a knick-knack shop at the top of Holburn street ... I've long forgotten the name, but it was there forever. There was always a tea towel in the window with the words "Wha's Like Us - Damn Few And They're A' Deid". Never a truer word.

The Venice Cafe & Chipper takeaway, run by 2 Brothers, I've edited my mistake as it was actually the Premier Grill that had the Albino guy, He did move to Elgin tho

I visited Aberdeen for the first time 2 days ago and it was interesting how many shops,bars,restaurants,etc that were closed down.

Premier stores was that chippie that u always got a cup o strong t and 2 slices o buttered bread wi ur pie and chips.those were the days

I also had my 21st birthday upstairs above the Carlton back in 1985. I lived in 34 Castle St when I was a kid and next door was The Candy Shop which is now the Thai place. Enjoyed this video lived away for 30 years coming home in March

Next to the Carlton pub was a newsagents then Chalmers bakery then where the vsa is was a tsb then where the nail spa shop Ladbrokes

Worked in veitch moir on the boulevard in 1985.carlton was a good bar back then

Do I know you? I worked for Codonas on the Twist with Kevin Codona. And the othe building is Marshall Court..... Mate used to live there a good few years ago...

Not sure, pretty sure it was 1983 I worked there. Was a great summer job
