As a car mechanic we try and take the filter head off then any spillage goes into a drain tray, those CAV 1191PL filters were used on everything back in the day, most annoying thing was getting sealing rings in right and the seal under the centre bolt

I think that was the issue with this seal! I think it was to wide and not seated in the right location 👍🏼
