ESGG TWR here, thanks for flying from Gothenburg! And sorry my brain left the building a bit there with that takeoff clearence. 🤦‍♂ There was a lot going on in the background. The reason for the changes regarding lineup and takeoff was btw an aircraft on final that first was faster than expected but turned away for a missed approach 🙂

Hello, Landvetter Ground here. The reason why I gave you hold short of F is because of the MDI towards Copenhagen. To nicely slot the Copenhagen departures with one other in between I give Copenhagen departures Y hold short F and other Z hold short F. In that way Tower can easily get every second Copenhagen and other departures and then follow the MDI without large delays.

It literally says on the main airport chart for ESGG: Delivery frequency (ATC Clearance) Ground frequency (start-up & push-back) So the controller was right..

What is a “main airport chart”? I checked the AGC and AOI and it’s not on there.

@@A330Driverif you go in to ground/taxi charts in navigraph (don’t no about lido) and select the ”AIRPORT, AIRPORT INFO, TAKE-OFF MNMS, OMNI DEP” (which I would call the ”main airport chart”) and look at the the frequencies at the top.

hey, great stuff as usual! one small thing though - its not always the delivery guy who hands you the startup clearance. In my home country the delivery controller hands you off to ground right after you confirm the clearance. this is done because a very small amount of airports there has the delivery position and ground still gives you both startup and push clearances. anyways, once again, thank you for your videos, ive learnt lots of things about airbus from ya:)

Hi. Danish controller here. Watching this video really made me sad. The way you are talking about the delay vectors are just not ok. We have around 118 arrivals in the 3,5 hours. As controllers we do our outmost to make delays as short as possible. And as it is impossible to control the inflow to Danish airspace on VATSIM, we must use rerouting, holds and delay vectors into EKCH. We are running at a landing rate at about 35 to 40 an hour, which is maximum capacity in Copenhagen. To hear all your negative comments about the delay etc really made me sad. If you dont want to experience delays like this, you should consider not flying in to events. Please consider that all the controllers are happy amateurs doing this on a voluntary basis. /Thomas
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 4 күн бұрын
Hi Thomas, it’s not about getting delay vectors, it’s about communicating them. I asked each controller how long the delays would be. Each told me no more delay expected after their own. You write on here that that would not have been true and everyone should have known there was more delay downstream. So just tell that to the pilot.
@thomasbroegger
@thomasbroegger 4 күн бұрын
@@A330Driver Again, we are all volunteers, and I can tell you, we do our best. On VATSIM we have to accommodate all kind of things that makes it impossible to give you accurate delay time. I am sure it was true when the controllers told you, but there could have been a go around or a pilot just not doing as told that created the delay. The diversity of the pilots on VATSIM just gives so many unknowns. And what upsets me, is the negative attitude towards the controllers you demonstrates. Non of us deserves that, we do this for fun. If you want to give negative feedback to the controllers, please use our feedback system, that way it is dealt with, instead of just hanging on KZbin.

Great video. However not sure if you knew that you were flying into the Vectors for Copenhagen regular Monday event. We are very popular so you were lucky not to get more delay than you did. We always recommend at least 30-45 mints holding fuel. ERNOV was overloaded yesterday which is why you were rerouted via TESPI. Greetings from EKDK_A_CTR - one of the few EKDK controllers you were not in contact with :-) /Stephen

And something you should definitely not do is to reduce speed by your own from a given ATC speed restriction. Ended up getting the landing clearance at 400ft AGL. Could have been more sufficient around 100ft if speed was not reduced against ATC clearance. It will just screw up the sequence behind.

I had the great fun sitting on Final that evening. Since the event is getting more and more popular, we need to have absolut minimum seperation in order to get everyone down without having to sit all night. The management of the event and Denmark is doing a great job trying to make it better for every time. We have great training videos, material and instructors.
@A330Driver

The fact that the controller asked me a few moments after I got the speed restriction if I was indeed reducing confirms that my decision was right. He forgot to inform me earlier. 250kt while 2NM from the centerline on a 90 degree intercept and 12NM from touchdown is much too quick. It’s the pilot who is responsible for the aircraft, not the controller. But this is a great example of the differences between flight simming and real aviation. The flight simmers trusts ATC blindly and doesn’t question what they’re doing. No situational awareness. The pilot thinks along and takes corrective action where needed.
@otbusiness8653
@otbusiness8653 4 күн бұрын
@@A330Driver Not exactly. You got assigned 180 knots after selecting 180 by yourself. At the point you were given the intercept heading, you would have been around 240 knots (now you were less than 220 which means that you will get closer to the other aircraft on final due to sharper inbound turn). Divide 240 kts IAS by 100 and you will get 2.4 NM as the distance for the intercept heading from the extension line. You were 2.5 NM when starting the turn, so absolutely no problems with that. It feels like you make the decisions a bit too rushed without a valid thought behind it. Hopefully that does not reflect to the real world. If you need a slower speed for performance reasons, just give a heads up e.g. "request lower speed" and you will get it . ATC will then make sure the sequence behind you as well. It is not about blindly trusting ATC, in this situation nothing seemed wrong for separation measures.

@@otbusiness8653 But then the controller came back a few seconds later when he was still decelerating through 190 knots, asking if he was slowing to 180 (and implying he wasn't reducing fast enough as was getting close to aircraft ahead).
@vagadal
@vagadal 4 күн бұрын
@@A330Driver As I mentioned, I was ATC as final and it is true, I ment to give you speed 200 when turning base. But you should know, that when instructed to reduce when on base and about to turn final, you cant let 1 min 45 sec go, which it took you to slow from 250 to 180. I wonder why you didn't use the speedbrake during that speed reduction, if you believed, you were too fast. But we are not here to point fingers but to have fun. Next time you just let the controller know, that you need to reduce the speed. (I was busy on final :). And I am sure you do so in real and not just doing what ever fits you best. I know I always say to ATC, what I am doing or wish for. But great that the standard is at a high level. Even for all those not with an aviation background. I am impressed how good the simmers are and specially their phraseology. I hope you can agree on that. And then we will all try to make it better. No one is flawless. Those who say they are, are the once you pay attention to :) Thanks for flying into the event. :)
