Thanks for asking! It did not last. After about 1500 more miles the pump started whining again. I am running with Seafoam in the tank again which lowers the intensity of the whine (maybe clearing the gunk from the filter?). On the Facebook group people have been posting that the issue is the small fuel filter that the pump discharges into (not the inlet screen). The pump starts to plug causing the restriction that makes the pump whine. If you have this issue start putting a fuel additive that clears out the gum and dirt until you can get in to the pump. This winter (I live in the north country) I plan to work on a permanent corrective action. I will open the tank back up and remove the post-pump filter from the pump housing. I then plan to add a fuel filter outside of the tank for easy service in the fuel line so the tank does not need to be removed.

@@danieleggert5393 OOOOOH My !!! sounds like a lot of work and engineering there should an easier way or a better quality part for guys like me with with limited mechanical skills please keep us updated the MC Has to come out with something durable enough i'm on my 2nd pump and this one started to cry again, do you know if 23-24 still has the same issue??? maybe they found the way to correct it.

@@erikicon1060 On the FaceBook group there is a rumor that H-D is clear coating the inside of the fuel tank for 2024. This is not verified. The fuel pump assembly is the same for all years at the moment. There is a possibility that there may be a change on the way. As far as the 'engineering' goes, that does not scare me. I have 38 years of engineering experience in the auto industry including engine design, fuel systems, electrical, and full vehicle integration. If I come up with a solution I will post the part information and instructions! In the mean time if you cannot get another pump ass'y installed start with some fuel treatments.

@@erikicon1060 I have a 2023 and I have the same issue. There has to be a long term solution to this, are we condemned to change fuel pump systems every oil change?

No issues with that pump? I replaced the fuel pump motor about 2 weeks ago and now it is making a loud noise when running. I didn’t change the strainer tho maybe that is my problem. Wondering how yours is holding up

It is apparently not the pump or the strainer. There is a small fuel filter in the housing between the pump and the outlet hose that others are finding is the root cause. I have a plan to investigate this over the upcoming winter when my bike is waiting for warmer weather!

@@danieleggert5393 Bad news, I pulled the pump again. There is an inline filter that it is sealed inside the housing. There is no way of replacing this filter without breaking the housing. I have some pictures if you want to see.

@@liviorivera The people in the FaceBook Group (Pan America owners I think) are stating that they are breaking up the filter and digging it out of the housing through the small hole. I do not want to do this and run the engine until I can then put an inline filter in the fuel line external to the tank. I don't want this black stuff in my fuel system on the engine! After digging the filter out of the housing it is reported the noise goes away.

@ that sounds like a lot of work, that hole is tiny and the filter is hard plastic. I am thinking of sealing out the hole with epoxy and running a small inline filter.
