Stabs but they are. it’s weird to run into people who hate twenty one pilots bc it’s like “wHo cOuld hAte tHem”. but i get it. you just don’t connect to the music and that’s ok. but don’t go around calling anybody a pretentious dickhead.
@sickly-mika68805 жыл бұрын
Stabs You say pretentious but would someone really make a song that connects to people emotionally just to be “cool?” I don’t think they would. The lyrics to this song are deep but only to certain people. You have to understand the lyrics and have had to experience them first hand to actually have a clue about what they are putting out in this song in particular. If you haven’t experienced the pain and agony of this song first hand then this song is nothing but a cool tune to sing along to. In my opinion no one would go this far to connect with like minded people and to tell them that they understand how they feel in such a cryptic way just so they can be edgy and cool. This song is literally a mood for some people (myself included) because we have dealt with so much shit in our lives and this song is letting those people know that you are not alone and there are like minded people like yourselves who experience the same things you do. This song is a way to connect to others through experiences and emotions. Really do some self evaluating before you start slandering people off because I promise you, you are nothing special and you are just like the rest of us. Lost & confused for what ever reasons. Have a good day!

The lyrics of this song are so freaking deep. Tyler is saying that he stays up at night worrying about his suicidal fans, about the stories that he's heard. He's screaming for us not to take our lives. He's proposing that instead, we find our comfort in the music, that we find support in the clique. And then the rap part tells us that he knows what we're going through. He tells us that he too has considered suicide. But he is saying to please take out their anger and their sadness towards him instead of themselves. Because he can't stand the idea of someone going through what he has gone through. Stay alive, lovelies. I-/

It makes me cry because of the meaning and why he shakes his head. The head shaking is to stop himself from crying and the meaning of the song is how most of their fans are suicidal and that's why he says don't take it as in don't take your life.

I first listened to this song 4 years ago, with a group of kids who I called my chosen family. We all self harmed, we all hung out during school and on the weekends. We spent all our time together. When one of us was hurting, the whole group came together to support one another. It was.. without a doubt the most beautiful thing I ever experienced. It was the one and only time in my life I had a "squad." We were.. a room full of mutant kids, fused at the wrists, when we were together. Truthfully.. they were the first real friends I ever had, at the age of 14. I knew heaven with them. I ruined it and, now I listen to this, and I realize- we all knew what the little things in this song meant back then, that was why it was one of our "emo anthems," but only now do I see how personal it should have been to me. I did a lot of bad things and lost this group, it's been three-ish years since I did and I haven't had any luck making new friends since then. I would like to think I've grown as a person, that I'm not the same toxic cloud that I used to be. But I don't know. I just know.. I'm grateful for this band, the same as I was back then.

I'm the exact same way... I lost the friends who I had really connected with - people I truly loved and trusted. It was my fault I lost them. There's not a day that goes by that I don't regret it. In the past couple of years, I also feel like I've grown as a person. I'm completely different in a way, but yet... I don't know. It seems like I still ruin relationships all the time. And I don't know if I'll ever have that true connection again.

Meaning of the song from Tyler himself: “So, Guns for Hands is talking about I wanna tell you that I know you have the ability to hurt yourself. You do. You have that ability. I feel like a lot of the older generation when they hear about someone struggling with it, their first reaction is like, “No, you’re not, you’re not struggling with that. Don’t think about that, you know, think about something else, you know, you’re just trying to get attention.” But this song was really trying to say like; “Listen, I know you have the ability to hurt yourself. I recognize that, but let’s take that energy and let’s point it at something else, let’s divert that, let’s kind of shift that momentum and look at something like art, or something like this music specifically, or even point it at me, you know, just point it anywhere, but don’t point it at yourself.” And so that’s what that song’s saying and that song will always be important to me. And I’m not a professional when it comes to this topic, but I write songs, and I feel like someone should say something about it.”

*trigger warning* I had listened to this song before but never really gave it much thought... then I listened to the commentary for where Tyler says this song can be interpreted as him saying even though we have the ability to hurt ourselves, we should take that power and use it to fuel something else instead... ...I relapsed this morning and got pulled out of school for harming myself, and all I could think about was how I had promised I'd stop for my parent's sake. I watched the video for the first time after hearing the commentary and just...the lines "And you swear to your parents, That it will never happen again, I know, I know what that means, I know." felt so personal, like he really knew what I had done and how I felt and I can't express what that feels like. I'm just so grateful for this band, and so thankful for their music.

SongzInReverze Wow! Way to simplify a serious problem. Self harm is usually an indication of severe depression, and used as a way to experience some type of feeling besides depression and hopelessness. If you don't have any clue what you're talking about, please don't comment. The "Just get over it" attitude doesn't ever solve anything. The only thing that fixes things is addressing the issues causing the symptoms. You ignorance is unfathomable. BTW I never self-harmed, I just try to understand people instead of judging or trivializing their struggles.

I was just extremely depressed. Whenever I catch myself thinking about suicide, I put on this song. Thank you, Josh and Tyler. This song has saved my life many times. CAN WE HAVE A CELEBRATION DOWN HERE IN THE COMMENTS BECAUSE WE ALL ARE ALIVE RIGHT NOW?! GREAT JOB GUYS!

i really like the part where he goes: "you all have guns, and you never put the safety on, and you all have hands, to take it, don't take it take it take it!" i feel like it is kind of a clever way to say that he fully knows you have the power to take your life, and is asking you not too

Guys I feel like at the end if the tape part they are like "why did we do this ? It'll hurt to take off ect.." and I feel like that really corresponds to the theme of the song of like self harm and in the morning you think "why would I do this ? In the end I just get hurt"
