Appropriate T-Shirt considering vocalist/guitarist Ian Mackaye was in the hardcore punk band Minor Threat before Fugazi

If you ever feel like reading about a band, this is a great one to pick. They embodied DIY, refused to sign to a corporate label, kept their shows all-ages, and never gouged tickets (they held their tickets at $5 for years). They also recorded most of their shows - something like 800 recordings. Just a super interesting group. Probably someone's mentioned all this before, so my apologies. I've just always been fascinated by the serious DIY musicians - especially when they're this da*n good. Great pick.

Their energy is awesome live. My friend lost her shoe at one of their shows. Lol!

I’ve been to hundreds of concerts in my life. Seen every big band & little band. Fugazi at the Palladium in NYC 5/1/97 is the singular greatest musical event I’ve ever seen. 5,000 people losing their minds with this wall of sound just swallowing us all. I wish there was a video of it somewhere. Very important band.

Great choice. This is from the documentary about the band called "Instrument". If you want to know what fugazi were about, watch that. This is a great example of what they did. They NEVER worked with a set-list. They'd agree on a song to start the show, and then use hand signals or whatever to call out the next surprise song. Their live arrangements were not like the record. They took it upon themselves to improvise, a lot, with feedback and unconventional guitar textures. That's exactly what you see here: them having fun with improv and arrangement and surprise. It was all so exciting to watch because you fucking never knew what was coming next. And they were intense. It's hard to find a more intense band. More, please.

A Devastating, Devastating track. IMO, one of their best. Worth checking out the recorded version and lyrics.

They were an odd artsy, proggy punk band. Its like if Tool ever was a punk band. Lol. Very cool band.
