I really enjoyed this interview session; I actually watched it over two days. Starting from the Ejire fellow, one would never guessed he would be this eloquent given that he sounded more like an office person. Yet, he touched pertinent issues which revealed the depth of his research prior to the interview. For the guest (Ayan Aderoju), he is a mobile encyclopedia of his profession and a reliable time-line commentator. His kinds are rare. Many issues are now clearer to me in the music sector, especially fuji and band issues. My personal take home on this is that many times, the particular strategic thing we did not do as a result of emotion usually comes back to cause emotional trauma. That album that was wiped out should have been released. It wouldn't have changed anything. As for the celebration of the deceased music maestro, a musical museum/archive can be built in his memory by his fans in collaboration with family and government. Such will last longer than any personal opinion or selfish tendencies. Thanks for uploading this!

Epic, interesting, I grew up to know much of Dr Sikiru Ayinde music in the early 80's to late 1999. One record of Dr is a million of today's Fuji music. Full of knowledge. May his soul rest in peace. It was good of you to ask him what is the worth of N600 in 1985/86 in today's money. And Aderoju guessed that it was around N18,000, and he was completely off the mark. The starting wage for University graduate in the FG, Level 8 step 3 was N300. Level 8, step 3 now should be at least N60,000, since min wage is now N30,000. I'm only guessing based on the fact that when graduate salary was N300, the min wage was N125. Therefore N600 in 1985/86 is at least N120,000 today. N120,000 weekly is equivalent N500,000 monthly. That is really a big amount for a drummer in a 2nd rate band. Honestly, I am surprised that a drummer in a 2nd or 3rd generation band could be earning N600 weekly or N2500 monthly back then. In contrast, he was paying N25 as house rent. That meant his house-rent was 1% of his salary. That is really strange. In my opinion, I think he forgot the actual amount because it was a long time ago. In his talk, he still regarded himself as poor man then, whereas N2500 per month would make someone a very comfortable person in 1985/86. The exchange rate then was about $1 = N1.50. We used to complain very bitterly on naira erosion, because the exchange rate was about $1 = N0.70 between 1980-1983.
