Had my X-Pro 3 for almost four years and never had an issue with my screen ribbon cable failing. I put this down to using the camera as intended, that is with the screen up. Being a photographer who started in the days of film, I use my X-Pro 3 as a film camera but without the expense of film, processing and scanning, and it takes me back to those days. It's just a different kind of digital photography for me.

I guess I will have to be the sole X-Pro3 lover in this thread…so far (Save for Tudor, of course). I have owned this rig for 4 years as well, with no issues to speak of. That said, I rarely use the flip-down screen, preferring to use the the EVF to review my images and keep shooting…just 2nd nature as I grew up in the film era, and of course in the 70s and 80s, “chimping” had a completely different meaning, trust me on that. As for any improvements on a pending ‘4’, well as the X-Pros eat batteries at a ravenous rate, an upgrade to the newer batteries used in my XT-5 would solve a lot of headaches of having to carry and additional 1 or 2 batteries for a day’s shoot. As Tudor suggested a 40 mp sensor is an absolute, I am loving the results from my X-T5, especially when I have to crop, an IBIS would be nice but not a deal breaker. Keep the price reasonable ($2000 or less). I have been rockin’ the X-Pro lineup since 2016! I just love this camera, flaws and all…

I contemplated buying the xpro3 when it came out but after reading tests and hearing about problems I decided to go for the xt4 a very good camera no regrets however I was still wanting to experience the xpro way by this time problems with 3 was pushing the price up on the 2 so I thought save money get the 1 it allows me to try this kind of camera for peanuts if I sold mine I wouldn't loose a penny now 12 years old it looks and functions close to new the optical viewfinder is same as mkii excellent I can't help think that Fuji cut costs building the three I'm with you Tudor if they make the 4 they should pull out all the stops and build a legend who knows I may sell some cameras and buy one new if they are available? For now I'm happy to put up with the short cummings of the mark 1 it's still fun to use has premium build quality as long as megapixels aren't your priority long live the xpro line

Fuji should have recalled the screen issue within the first year of production. The screen issue is what is holding me back from ever owning one.

WHEN I BOUGHT MY XPRO3 OFF OF EBAY, I KNEW THE SCREEN AND THE BACK SIM WINDOW DIDN'T WORK!! IT DIDN'T BOTHER ME ONE IT! I AM A VIEWFINDER STREET SHOOTER ALL DAY, EVERYDAY!!! I LOVE ALL OF THE XPRO CAMERAS...WHICH IS WHY I WILL NOT EVER SELL THEM! I WILL NOT EVER FIX THE SCREEN -EVER!!! IT'S A GREAT EXPERIENCE SHOOTING IT THE WAY I'M SHOOTING WITH ONLY THE VIEWFINDER! I DO AGREE WITH THE FRAMELINES....BUT I JUST MAKE IT WORK! I'VE SPENT COUNTLESS HRS JUST SHOOTING RANDOM THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE AND OUTSIDE TO SEE WHERE IT LANDS. JUST COMPENSATE FOR THAT 10% ERROR! WHEN THE NEW XPRO CAMERA COMES OUT, I WILL BE IN LINE TO GET MY COPY...AND STILL USE THE PREVIOUS VERSIONS! GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS! Completely second your take on the rangefinder like ovf. A thing I feel in common with a true rangefinder is feeling the scene, contrary to evfs wich I feel disconnected, like If I had a barrier between me and the world. Also I feel its becoming too much screens in our lives, now even when outside photographing. Wanted it on a small digital camera without leica price right now. Went with the pro2 and it has been my favourite camera so far for personal work, with dslrs for paid ones. The only reason I didnt buy the 3 as well its because the ribbon issue, and although the camera is workable like you said I heard that the evf (including the erf wich I use for focusing with mf non voighlander lenses) also dies. And of course if one pays top dollar for something it is expected to work as it should. But yes, these camera segment is a joy and the 1 and 2 deserve a place in the history of remarkable cameras, mainly because its ovf

Hi Tudor, thank you for sharing this. I was debating about the X-Pro3. I have the X-T30II but getting frustrated with a couple of things about it over the years. I just love the character of the older Fujifilm sensors, so I was thinking of going backward instead of forward. I think I'll wait for the X-Pro4, which who knows when that will happen but SOMETHING will happen eventually. Meanwhile, I'm still shooting with my GX9 and Zf for street and probably going to go ahead and sell my X-T30. Thank you! - Juliette (I changed my handle).

Look into a X Pro 2 used. It is a wonder of a camera. Minimalist setup rendering beautiful images

What a paradox this Fuji Xpro range is! And I'm one of those paradoxical user-adorators who uses its EVF for the most part, even though the EVF is much better designed on the Fuji-XT (width, eye-relief, etc.). So why did we choose the XPro? Because of its looks? Or because of the possibility of using the optical viewfinder, even though we rarely use it in practice? Probably for these two reasons combined... So we can make a rather ‘hard’ assumption. We buy the XPro for its looks and its OVF, in reality to avoid paying the price of the Leica M we covet. And, as the XPro's OVF viewfinder is rather disappointing in use, we end up turning to the EVF... So what should the XPro4 look like? My vision, I know it's probably in the minority, is that Fuji should be consistent with the implicit promise, with above all a much better thought-out and more efficient OVF! I'm voting for this option in any case, even going so far as to maintain the principle of the XPro3-style retractable screen!
