Bro, so with you. I shoot a lot of high end kids parties. You know, jumping castles, pony rides and kids running and screaming having fun. Even when they sit still, they’re NEVER still. So, for me, that’s where the XT5 is amazing for me and it gets me paid. BUT, it’s just work. When it comes time to photography, I LOVE my X-Pro3, with my manual focus Voigtländer lenses, and I absolutely love the experience. Are my images tack sharp on the eyeball like my XT5 with the new Fuji glass? No. But I can say, the look of the Voigtländer lens, natural vignette, slightly soft and through the viewfinder of my X-Pro3… absolute heaven. Thanks for the video. I really connected with your views.

I'm 100% with you. Seems like not only tech got to be too much but most photographers became graphic designers spending so much on post edit. This is why I picked up xt3 with manual lenses and I enjoy full manual everything and film simulations. I also picked up x100f and couldn't be happier with xtrans 3 so much character. Wow... I could have made this video. Every aspect of the focusing that you mentioned is exactly the same for me. I've never utilized most of any modern camera's (on-paper) potential, because I use these cameras exactly like I did with my 1970s Nikons and Leicas. If you do street photography and understand the DOF scales on your lenses (that have them) then you can beat any autofocus for that type of shooting. Nice to know that I'm not the only one that works this way.

I'm so with you on this ! My current camera is a Fuji X-Pro2. It has all I need, which is aperture/shutter speed/iso rings. That's it. I don't need whatever frames/sec, I don't need fancy autofocus, single point will do, I manage it. And most of the time I use manual lenses which is perfect, this is where I come from anyway ;-) The X-Pro3 has not much that I'd like, except the tilt screen maybe but too expensive just for that. And an X-Pro4 ? I'm pretty sure I'd be like you, I don't need more than I have. ;-)

Thanks for the review! This video made me realize that although I do need the 5, it probably will be my forever body. I have the XT3 - my very first flagship camera. I find myself always needing that ibis feature having a long lens and also shooting local music scene at night. Im also dabbling with the idea of doing sports as I love playing basketball. I use a Fuji 35mm on the street and love it. I would like to find something that gives me a 28 or 35 equivalent, but they just don’t make them. As someone who shot color slide film for twenty-five years, I hear you when you say it is too easy. You don't need to know how to calculate an exposure, you have a histogram in your viewfinder. So I have gone back to film cameras for that slower pace and thoughtfulness. I also still have a mirrorless for birds in flight and for the back-sparing flip up screen.

I see you have shot with the xpro 2 and xt3. I’ve owned both and there’s no difference in the way they operate than the xt5 operates. Plus you shoot a Sony. The most difficult menu I’ve ever used. If what you say is true you need to be shoot film. Digital is a computer and there designed to do the stuff for you. The closest I’ve come to making it simple is on my M leicas.
@JLStreetDoc

I don’t shoot film for many reasons. Yes, I agree, it’s the purest form of photography, but… Film cost too much, I don’t have a darkroom, and no space for one, and I need control of the editing. I shoot raw and full manual, so I don’t let the camera make any decisions and I use a manual lens. As far as the Sony goes, it serves a purpose that the Fuji can’t do. And the menu system is fine, way better than it used to be.

How do you "send a camera back"? How do you get them refunded? Dude, a 12 minute video to say "bad autofocus".with a Fuji? Who doesn't know that? That is true with all their X-series cameras. Why are you complaining about auto-focus in the first place if you do "old school"? You can go totally old school with the XT-5. Just set it to manual mode. What am I missing here? Or you can get a Leica M3 for $800--$1200 and use cheap but decent Voitlander or Canon glass. and do film. I have had all these cameras and a Leica as well and have and use several medium format film cameras and a 35mm Nikon F2. Best SLR ever made. You can pick one uo for $250. anywhere if you want old school. Same with the XPro-3. I only use it in manual mode.. I love the question you ask though; do you really need this camera". I suffer from GAS so it takes great courage to get rid of one once you just get it. What camera did you use the most before this? I have learned one thing: when you buy a new camera you have to live with it and get to know it for 6 months to a year first. Just get an old mirrorless Canon 5D Mark IV for nothing. 30 meg. Or go film and get a Leica M3 But this video confused me. You say you like old school but complained about auto-focus which isn't old school..
