Good choice. The X T3 is art and will compliment your other cameras. It's actually so good, especially for video, it may become your go to. 21:22 mark ...the f stop on the 18 to 55 mm is visible in the exceptional EVF and screen.

3 years on and this video is still great! Like a time warp 👌👌👌 I’ve just added an X-Pro3 to my Fuji kit, and whilst it is technically inferior to all of my modern bodies, it is a dream to shoot with. What an experience.
@Owlbot Жыл бұрын
Glad the video still holds up haha. Seeing as that sensor is the same from the XT4, it's not even that "inferior" in my opinion! The XT5 just came out recently and that's got a new one, but yeah up until a few months ago the Xpro3 was still on the sort of leading edge of Fuji's offerings!

Thanks for your thoughts on these cameras and lenses. It’s always nice to hear more perspectives, especially because you are most familiar with shooting on film. As far as I understand it, there are no markings on the aperture ring on the kit lens and it spins infinitely because it is not a fixed aperture, and we unfortunately can’t get the X100 series lens for any of the other cameras because it has a built in leaf shutter. I think this also means it has a faster flash sync.

People tend to get confused as to what a rangefinder camera is. The only true digital rangefinder in production today is the Leica M. Rangefinders use a different focusing method. Instead of looking through the lens via a mirror, a rangefinder’s viewfinder is an entirely separate visual system mounted as close as possible to the lens. It shows two overlapping images of the subject. By aligning the images, the distance-or range-to the subject can be calculated (thanks to the parallax effect) and you can focus the lens.

13:30 - no, no, no-nono... After just ONCE you'll see the results of HLG in a specific (not synthetic) case you'll love it and will be searching for about "how to convert my 10-bits for KZbin properly?" (this is my little PIA now) Yesterday I've recorded my cats while playing with them using a grass leaf. The black cat has a VERY noticeable specular (high-lights) tones over his fur. These were produced naturally by the home lamp. After uploading the video to YT I was dissapointed! The black but shiny fur was looking like it was recorded on some old phone's camera! Highlights were totally gone! The fur's "texture" was gone! It's only one detail but I've spotted it immediatelly. 10-bit video looks like you "almost looks by your eyes again"! It's that feeling when you watch it. Only noisy and digital obviously. 8-bit it's like you've recorded something on your old camera and it looks like a camera video. I've found that YT has some option to upload HDR videos... But you need to convert from HEVC codec specifically (I've didn't got the solution yet). A. Premiere Pro is a pretty caprice program: old versions doesn't support HEVC, you need to upgrade to 2019 (probably). Latest needs Win 10 at least (which I don't want to mess with yet!). Also they've removed ac3 audio codec (as far as I know) and it's a shame. Again... People, believe me... If you'll try 10-bit video vs 8-bit - this will change you forever! The same as I've discovered pure analog oscillators in a synth (and the filter). Most of VST synths did became for me almost like a joke!

X100's have the pancake 23mm, but it's a leaf shutter. The next one will probably be the X200 because there will be significant changes like a new lens and probably the same flip down LCD (without the film box top sim probably) and no D-Pad. I'm with you: if they are going to put a fixed lens on I'd love to see the ol' 40mm f1.7 equiv (27mm.) since for street stuff I never could make up my mind between the 35mm and 50mm. I echo Solomon when he said, "cut that baby in half."

Been debating myself getting a X-Pro3 lately, already shooting X-T3. Have been thinking of trying out the optical style you refer to, which allows you to focus on the composition and trust the camera like you would film. ...May rent a x-pro to see how it is before I drop the pricey cost. You mentioned the 56 APD, are you going to do a separate full video on that one at some point? I had used the 56 non-APD a while back and was looking to pick up the 56 myself in the near future and was wondering about the APD.

As someone that primarily shoots with the LCD off to conserve battery life it's a real pain to mess with settings, or review a photo in the rare occasion I want to do that. Having a hidden screen sounds great because it keeps the LCD out of the way but also makes accessing it quick and smooth when that need arrises.

Those that actually use the OVF on the Pro3 are few. I'm one as well. Have you ever used any other Fuji OVF camera like a prior Pro or X100? On the Pro3 the framing line parallax comp and focus box do not return to the middle of the screen when one releases the shutter button. If you've never used a prior version you may not be bothered by this, but if you do - as I do - let Fuji know. The frames lines should return to the center of the screen. Now they stay there even when you turn the camera off.

You like those X-Pro2 inaccurate framelines do you? Or is it the warping distortion of the OVF that you are fond of? Oh, and lets not mention the X-Pro2 EVF, that is a total mess isn't it.

@@Thomas_Geist Simple firmware fix, you know that Thomas.
@Thomas_Geist4 жыл бұрын
@@goodbokeh One would think so, however, I think Fuji gave its engineers the ultimatum to reduce routines calling on processor time. They have upgraded the processor, claim more shots per battery recharge and added features but have the same battery. I'm an engineer and know power doesn't just miraculously appear. Might seem.a small thing, but on the older versions each time you released the shutter and the frame lines and focus position returned to the center that required additional processor operations which in turn consumed battery life. The battery sets your absolute power budget and people have complained about their battery life. To add stuff then they must subtract other stuff. Simple matter of physics. (I'm from the film days when after just 24 shots you had to wind up the film roll into its little can and carefully thread a new one in then rack and fire off a few times to position the number 1 in your frame counter. Taking 5 seconds to change the battery every 250 shots is not exactly a huge deal.) There's also an issue that when using CLARITY, the EVF refresh rates drops I'm guessing in half unless you hold the shutter button down. This is probably a software glitch since I can't see why CLARITY would be competing for processor time. But... Complex Systems 101: When you have a base operating system and new engineers start laying too much stuff on top of it weird and unpredictable shit happens. Since CLARITY is new and I never knew I needed it, my workaround is turning it off. Sure they can fix it, but will they? I wrote them a detailed email and so far, crickets. That's not the old Fuji.
@goodbokeh4 жыл бұрын
@@Thomas_Geist I'm glad you wrote the email to Fuji. I've read that the clarity setting does need processing power so that explains the time lag. I've liked the results on setting 1 vis a vis being off and my X-T30 with the same lens. I have it on my Q menu if I want it turn it off. I will do more tests on setting 2. I hope you saw my earlier mea culpa. Sorry you are Sour on Fuji...where to now? I run full frame Sony I don't think they are better.

Good job on the comparison between the cameras and the intentional use for each of them. HOWEVER, the 27mm “pancake” lens is arguably either the worst or second worst prime in the otherwise stellar line of Fuji lenses. Sorry, but it’s just true. I won’t tell you what you should pick as your street lens, that is a very personal decision, BUT I do think if you are going to make recommendations to your KZbin audience, as a professional, you OWE it to them to make a better recommendation than the 27mm pancake. People will take your recommendations and spend their money on them; you should do better by them if you hold yourself out as a “professional”. Just sayin’.
@Owlbot4 жыл бұрын
My recommendation was based on form factor and versatility as a focal length over any other metric, if that wasn't clear.
