For whatever reason I hadn't built this Fujimi kit. But had built many others. Your right their kits are basic and simple. But for folks new to the hobby. They're a great starting point. Your additions to this one was a perfect example of what can be done to improve on the simplicity. Old kits and new decals also help as you mention. Thanks for sharing.

I built this kit in 1989 and was almost finished with it when my 2 year old twin boys knocked over the TV stand to try to get to it stored on top. I was so upset at the time. But little did I realize that they just wanted to be part of dad’s hobby. Now they are 35 and one just bought his first model kit And I couldn’t be prouder! Just wish I knew what was really happening 30 some years ago

Right on, Dave! I had twin younger brothers, and they got into everything. I built quite a few kits with my son, but he hasn't come back to the hobby yet. Maybe someday 🙂.

Great looking build, you always capture the Japanese aircraft colors so well. I always get a little confused on the Japanese Army and Navy aircraft. As always excellent pre build plan to study.

Beautiful model. You did a great job. Scratch build detail the interior. Who cares if the canopy hides it. You know it's there. Such a beautiful model it requires a flight deck diorama.

If you use the pilots they hide the lack of detail in the cockpit.I try to use pilots in all my models.They hide a lot.😁BTW well tidy review and build.

My biggest criticism of this kit is they don't give you the option to build a "wheels up" version. ... ... Gotcha?

Fujimi kits are great in the molding, but their decals are garbage in my experience.

Due to the age of this kit, I can't comment on what the decals were like when new. I should have replaced them with newer aftermarket decals.
