Okay, I'm going through your videos now and unlike most camera gear reviews your images excite me strangely. You've got a style I like that's quite and unforced and reminds me a little of Michael Ormerod, if he'd shot more in cities than on the open road. You really know how to work a video edit too, and I'm itching to get out there in to the big city and walk through the crowds at night with the Lost in Translation soundtrack playing on my headphones. Only I live in rural Wales and it's daytime and we're in lockdown and my headphones are broken. Still, you've got a subscription from me and I'm definitely going to follow your Instagram feed. Expect a few rambling comments, both here and there and thank you for sharing some great imagery.

I am a videographer, dont really take more pictures than what is absolutely needed, only like landscape, of extraordinary locations, just to be able to quickly show a building or park detail... but I am shopping for the perfect lens for close ups in low light, and after watching your video I am leaning towards the 16mm, many thanks!

@serr3 жыл бұрын
I have tried it! It’s such a fun lens.
@twocupsstudio3 жыл бұрын
@@serr You love manual focus and so this lens must be fun with good results. My idea is to get 18-55mm, and since I loved good 1.4 for portraits, can try ttartisans. And then after some gap invest in 27mm as it will be hard to get things in one go. But then the kit lens is 27mm and discounted whereas 18-55 will get costly. So will wait and make decision during purchase time only. Now keeping options open.
@francolebrino96833 жыл бұрын
Ce l'ho! superbo nei dettagli, robusto, bello, lo porto sempre con me, montato sulla X-T3.
@twocupsstudio3 жыл бұрын
Also, I had asked about 35mm vs 27mm lens and you said 27mm. I think if there is no wide angle in kit then 27 mm is better. But normally for composition, one can zoom in with larger zoom lenses. with wide angle of 27 mm vs 35 mm, one can mostly compose by moving in our out by walking rather than depending on zoom lenses. And if one needs wider angle than 18mm or 23 mm is better. I am still thinking why 27 mm over 35mm if one also has wide angle lens in kit?
@serr3 жыл бұрын
For me, it’s because I’ve always felt that the 35mm is too close for my style of photography where I like to show the environment. 27mm is not wide angle but it’s wider than the 35mm and still rather close to the subject. So it’s a perfect in between focal length for me. Also you can compose by moving in our out but you will never get the same composition as another focal length because the perspective and how much background is shown will always be different. I hope this makes sense, but I love talking about this stuff with you so continue to ask questions!
@twocupsstudio3 жыл бұрын
@@serr For environment and showing things in perspective even if focus is on a portrait, 27mm F 2.8 is good. Not too much blur given to background and also still wide enough. Not more wide of 17 of 18 mm in which lines can have many angles. So I get it why you like 27 mm based on your work (getting a rough idea from your videos). But to understand how moving in our out with different focal lengths will give different results need to be explored. I think nobody must have done such analysis video! Will still wait for 3-4 months based on covid situation here before purchasing camera. Till then would be more active in looking at videos rather than clicking pictures and so would check your videos too and hope you could throw some light on what you are talking with real examples.
@thedanyopang3 жыл бұрын
Awesome vid man! Do you think you use the 16mm f1.4 more or the 18-55mm kit lens, wondering which I should go for as my first lens, I'll mostly do talking head videos and some street b roll video. Also have your tried the viltrox or samyang lenses for Fuji by any chance? Thanks!
@serr3 жыл бұрын
Thank you🙏 I’d say if this is going to be your only lens for a while, go for the 18-55. But, if you plan on building up your lens line up rather quickly, go for the 16mm 1.4! The 16mm inspires me more than the kit lens would, and it’s perfect for talking head & broll footage! I’ve used the 56mm 1.4 viltrox lens, & have had no issues with it. Actually been planning on getting the 23mm 1.4 viltrox to replace my 23mm f2 lens. I hope this helps 👍

@serr3 жыл бұрын
I have used both! I think the photo at 0:16 showcases the look of this lens the most. It does the exact same thing as the black pro mist does(softens and blooms highlights) but adds a shiny texture to it. The 1/4 glimmer glass strength is the equivalent to the 1/4 black pro mist. I like the glimmerglass more, it’s more unique and gives the photo more texture imo. If I were to buy it again however I would probably get a 1/2! Thanks for watching.
