S.W.W Matt heres what you don't know that these days. Vicroads have put implemented rules that anyone that have either, sight, hearing, sleep or mental health problems need to get clearance from a specialist. If those cops ordered any of those young men to undergo a psych evaluation, She will say they are mentally unfit to drive and until she says otherwise they can't drive. If they defy a doctor's order, its a $16,000 fine. I know because I must pass a medical every year to keep my licence.

A current affair is the worst, just one sided bullshit. They gather police, doctors, professional instructors, etc to defend these stupid road laws (they're paid of course) but on the other side invite a bunch of teenagers with IQ of about 10 combined, they couldn't even string a sentence together. obviously street racing or drifting on the road is very stupid, or cutting springs or running -10 camber or installing wheels that don't fit, etc and those that are stupid enough to to it should be pulled up. What the real motoring enthusiasts have a problem with is despite doing the right thing like obeying the speed limit, going to race tracks, keeping the car in excellent mechanical condition, etc you still get followed, pulled over and harassed for simply driving a modified car, defected for having things like a rollcage, engine modifications, suspension modifications, or wide wheels, etc. Even though the car is a miles safer and driver being miles more talented than 99% of the other cars on the road. Its about revenue, not safety.

I've also done 200kph, in the middle lane, while being overtaken by sportscars travelling at 250km/u+. Speed doesn't kill. Differences in speed kill. Speeding on the freeway doesn't harm anybody, speeding in residential areas is unacceptable though.

Generally speaking, they go out at 3am, they use industrial estates and they don't think they are invincible. Don't say they don't care. That would be to deny them of a sense of self preservation; given the time and place they undertake these acts, you cannot say most don't care about the public. To draw distinctions from drug use serves only to solidify what most people with a jurisprudence already think of you. Sure, the behaviors are irresponsible; yet they still aren't anywhere near as irresponsible as this farce of a journalistic standard. There is a place for emotion; but to exploit it in this way is repulsive, unprofessional and I think personally hides the lack of what could otherwise be a stronger case. Piss weak.

Look, the reason us "hoons" love to go high speeds or go sideways through a Macca's drive-thru at the middle of the night is because it gives us freedom. There is no freedom by sticking to extremely low speed limits and being restricted by tons of car modification laws, NSW (where I live) is the worst state to be a car tuner because of all the laws that are forced down our throats preventing us from putting our personalities in visual form in our cars.

I could understand a Defect Station being there to check Track cars and see if their up to standard. However, If you are putting a track car through a normal defect procedure, that's a bit off. That said, A track car that is not fit for use on Public roads, should be brought in on a Tow truck or Trailer.

Concerning this whole feud between "car enthusiasts" and cops, I think people tend to forget what many cops have to go through during their career, I'm talking about making next of kin notifications to mothers telling them that their sons have been in a fatal car accident, i'm talking about having to see a dead body/body parts scrapped/hosed off the road, i'm talking about having to be the first responder of a car accident where a family with a toddler in the backseat have all been killed on impact due to someone being stupid on the road.... These car enthusiasts need to grow up and realise that state roads are not a playground, and shouldn't be used to emasculate themselves.... I have no problem with someone being a car enthusiast, but for God's sake, stay off public roads... go to a closed off racing track or something where it's safe for EVERYONE.

Guys and girls, if you want to enhance your cars and be proud of it then go ahead but do it properly and do it within the limit...have valid warrants, have good tyres, don't tint your windows too much, don't make your exhaust too loud, don't just cut the springs and have it lowered professionally...do all that and the coppers will leave you alone..some of you might say well then all we ended up is the same shit with any one else and that's boring...well if you want to be a dick and challenge the law then by all means go ahead but don't wingle like little girls when the coppers order your cars off the road because its unroadworthly...its that simple..stay on the right side of the law and you're all be sweet...fuck peer pressure and use your fucking brains and think about your actions.

This interview seems like a joke... Unfair and inadequate perspectives. I have been a 'driving' enthusiast since I first got behind the wheel of my first car at 18yo. I love to drive and I have also made a lot of mistakes.. I'm only 27 but would love to have an 'older hoons' input on shows like the one shown. The people on this video really seem like children just pushing their boundaries or just being uneducated. I agree that if you do the crime then you need to pay the penalty.But how about a SMARTER PENALTY SYSTEM for offenders? The police/government love the money/income that they receive from speeders etc, why not put a rehabilitation system in place? If it's such a small % of people that 'don't learn' from their mistakes then it shouldn't take much! How about getting a few inputs from pro drivers? So many kids look up to them and their advice could help save lives. I look at dangerous driving like an addiction that needs to be understood,controlled and channeled by the one with the problem. There are also things like - respect, attitude, age, maturity,money, drugged/impaired while driving, etc, it all factors in to this discussion. I think the smart ones don't even say how fast they have been in a vehicle because they know it's unacceptable on public roads.

there arn't any interesting cars left on the road in NSW because its become a nany state. the police and public have been brainwashed into thinking a modified car is a threat to the public when in actual fact the car is improved (modified), by a person that cares more about looking after their car and therefore not crashing it. sports exhaust = loader = safer more power = irrelevant ( a prius can do 165km/h ) bigger brake = better crash avoidance better suspension = better crash avoidance

Maybe a start in combating young "hoon" drivers, should be limiting them to naturally aspirated four cylinder motors with no modifications whatsoever. For the time of their probation period, people need to understand and respect cars before they can get a high powered car. But politicians are the smart ones.
@AngusOutram
@AngusOutram 10 жыл бұрын
Politicians Smart? They are no different from the rest of us. Taking freedom of choice of vehicle away from people? You enjoy living in a "free" country yes? As you said, people need to understand and respect cars, the only way to get people to do this is by "teaching* them, Common sense would dictate that "Education" is the best way of tackling this issue, but that costs money so the Government won't do it. Also please don't be blind sighted. ACA has picked the dumbest "hoons" they could find to represent themselves while they got police which specialise in traffic offenses especially hooning cases. it's not a fair argument and is segment was made to make hoons look like idiots, you need to understand that before you watch it.
@thetalkingelement
@thetalkingelement 10 жыл бұрын
I was being very sarcastic when I said politicians were smart. It's one thing to teach kids advanced driving education, but once they get it then get a high powered car most if not all would drive around the streets thinking their ken block or something. Don't get me wrong I love powerful cars and I had a rotary rx 3, 13b brappa. I just think kids should be restricted to 4 cyl nat asp no mods at all, for the time of probation, enforcing it would be the hard part.

Dinky Di I'd have to agree with what you're saying here. An inexperienced driver behind the wheel of 300hp and a shitload of torque is a dangerous prospect. It's far too easy for them to lose control. I personally believe it's important to learn the fundamentals of car control before getting into something with a lot of power. Wouldn't be any harder than enforcing drink driving. If you're caught driving a modified vehicle and/or it has more than 4 cylinders, the vehicle is seized and you get demerits/a ticket. It's not a good idea for young people with little experience to be behind the wheel of something they can't control.
@AngusOutram
@AngusOutram 10 жыл бұрын
Dinky-Di that's legit? The point of the education is to make them realize they are not Ken Block and how to respect the car. Yes in Australia we have a lot of dumb people and laws have to be made for the lowest common denominator but the fact you're wanting to ban P-platers from V6's and diesels is actually so stupid, Like i actually don't think you have a brain right now. How is a P-plater meant to tow a boat? most commercial vehicles a V6 so goodbye jobs for young people. you are actually just so dumb i don't understand you.

in case you don't know, going to tracks is expensive and for these guys they're most likely tradesmen, an average first year mechanic earns $300 a week, most of your income is gone in 2 hours if you go to a track but going in backstreets is dumb, going in rush hour traffic is dumb going late at night on a open highway is not a danger in any way ( assuming you don't do stupid speeds like other guys in this clip )

What hoons don't understand is cars are large metal object hurtling along at unnatural speeds (according to science). Science has gotten cars to be safer at these speeds. I mean, put 60 km/h into perspective. If I put one of those hoons in a shopping trolley and launched it at even 40 km/h, they wish they didn't even make a glancing hit to anything stationary. yes, cars have safety aspects in place, but how far will that take us? Acceleration has the same theory.

just my POV; massive amounts of car lovers spare time reckless (yes that too...) and barely places to go to. if you live in sydney for example, some of the only places to go to (if you have short patience span and Google briefly for 4 or 5 hours) are the drift mob meets or the eastern creek drags. (try to cram all the sydney enthusiasts that fall under that description into two or even 10 meets a month) thats just an example, and well...speed is addictive, so the im-patient will end up either expressing anger or something or the other or just hoon for the fun of it thinking they won't cause a statistic and end up doing so :/ but I mean, it's like forcing them into a box and then publicising them when they try to break out IMO I may be wrong or I may be right but still...something needs to be fun...to many are lost to idiots. And to be honest doing over 150 or 200 or whatnot on a public road, let alone street, is stupid nonetheless, and because of people like that, stats are caused and a huge number of car lovers are labelled hoons in the public opinion because of such actions and such programs focusing on what they did instead of what they caused (repetitive videos of idiots instead of extended interviews with people and debates)...but that's my opinion.

If you want to risk yourself - they will say were is the harm??? You could show them 100 video clips and that small handful just smile at the cool burnouts.
