In this video, you can see a "simple" full-authority autoPilot software which can control Robinson R22 helicopter to navigate between waypoints.
In this project, Python and Flight Gear connected each other over UDP so that the Python software can get feedbacks from Flight Gear and send the calculated control commands back to take over the helicopter's attitude control.
Inside the python script, there are many PI, PID (feedback & feedforward) controllers to control Euler angles, Rates, Accelerations, Airspeed, Altitude, Vario, Heading, Side-Slip ext.
