What a fun panto performance! I love that "O, for a muse of fire" speech. It's perfect for this show - it's all about recognizing the limits of stage performance (especially performance on a bare stage) and asking the audience to fill in the gaps with their imaginations. (And Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont is considered the author of "Beauty and the Beast" as we know it. Nice touch, Disney!)

Fun fact: at 6:15 Belle mentions Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. She was a French novelist who lived in the 1700's and who wrote Beauty and the Beast.

More specifically, Jeanne-Marie wrote the abridged version of Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve's original tale. This abridged version became the best known version of Beauty and The Beast.

It's done in a vaudeville style because shows like that were common during the Renaissance period, which Fantasyland is themed after. Vaudeville shows are comedic, so there's lots of corny humor, long-running jokes, and inexpensive props. This may not be the grand retelling of Beauty and the Beast you might expect from a Disney park, but I think these shows are great for kids, will run for quite a while, and fit the theme of Fantasyland.

Enchanted Tale and this Stage show aren't even comparable. Enchanted Tales in more of a walk-through character experience thats supposed to fit a high capacity of guests in a short time.. This is so much more intimate and relaxed.. and not afraid of being messy.. Plus, ETwB is ran by frontline cast members, not equity singing/dancing actors lol
