@stopthecap1Ай бұрын
Idk what you mean packed up, NY won that series by a total of 6 possessions, lol. Also, half the rotation missing? The only impactful rotational player missing was randle. Embiids knee was fucked up & he was dealing with bell's palsy, which is an argument I've heard quite a lot from the Sixers' point of view. The argument he's making is that KAT fouls too much and is not going to be able to handle embiid plus ny lost bench depth, which are both correct takes. Sixers have great depth and Maxey is a certified star. Also, PG had an amazing year with the clippers last season, shooting 41% from deep on 8 attempts, with him on the court they had a +/- of +9 and were a top 10 defense while george was also crucial in closing out games. Without him on the court they had a +/- of -8 and dropped to a 29th defense. I'm a fan of neither team but you're trying to sell this so hard and trying to paint this man in a bad light to the point that it's become corny.

Great trade for the Knicks. Many reasons. 1. Did we believe the Knicks were going to pay Randle his money? Answer is no. They most likely would be looking for a trade partner to off load Randle at a time the Knicks leverage would be low. Randle is coming off injury, plays worse than KAT in the playoffs, and wants what KAT has( money). Trade him now before his value is low or leaves for nothing. 2. KAT fills a temporary necessity right now at Center. When Robinson comes back KAT slides back to the 4 spot just like in Minnesota. 3. KAT ability to shoot opens up the offense not only for BRUNSON to operate but everybody else. 4. BRUNSON is a 28 year old small guard in his prime. He has 4 yrs of high level ball( Just like KAT) to make things happen. Both contracts take that into consideration. This prob the best window the Knicks are going to have. Oh, everybody has to remember the money is not the same. The cap keeps rising everytime I turn around.

You could’ve rolled the ball out and see what you had with your squad and then made an informed decision 30 games into the season…In addition, you literally traded for the 1 top 50 player that your coach dislikes the most…he definitely doesn’t have a tibs mentality. Finally, if KAT doesn’t work, your SOL. No one will trade for that contract, ever…so you pretty much have bet this entire chip window on the likelihood tibs will somehow become a person that can accept dudes like KAT and learn how to deal with them (as opposed to just sitting them on the bench) or KAT somehow magically transforms into a grinder. You patiently waited with all of your picks for 4+ years. You could’ve scooped up some defensive big that can rim run at some point in the season for only piston pick or less. And you still would have had the best shooter on your team to shoot the rock, or trade for other stuff. It kinda feels like a bet on a borderline A level player that the knicks make twice a decade and none of them have worked going back to the 80’s…Carmelo, stoudemire, marbury, mcadoo, and on and on and on…those players minus melo (who you traddd so much for he could’ve been Lebron and you still would have had no chance to win with him there) are all in the exact same position KAT is in right now. A star type player that you will wish had 15% more game and a better attitude. You’re gonna blame the losses on him because he’s getting fat racks and you’re gonna make him play worse and worse until the team implodes….history is a great teacher fella.
@thomasquiles579Ай бұрын
@@johnnyp5216 The Knicks didn’t have a center and the Knicks couldn’t come up with an agreement for a randle extension…so why is that a bad move? Towns complements the Knicks better than randle. He shoots the ball better, doesn’t need the ball in his hands as much as randle and spaces the floor for Brunson. If you wanna use the argument that KAT is underwhelming in the playoffs, go ahead and look at Randles playoff numbers. You can find good playoff performances from KAT and not a single one from randle. In fact Donte DiVincenzo has been more significant in the playoffs than randle. Losing him was the Knicks biggest loss from this trade, not randle. They were successful even when randle was hurt. The Knicks now have a better starting lineup than last season, they loss depth but they can make mid season trades just as you mentioned. If anyone was gonna take the KAT contract it was gonna be a big market like the Knicks to work with that kind of money. I can understand you not liking this trade because of Donte but you gotta give up something significant for a player like KAT. Also…if ur argument is gonna be that he’s soft and won’t work well with coach thibs, KAT is from jersey, grew up a Knicks fan, has a great relationship with his former agent Leon rose and the beef with thibs was years ago and has even said himself there’s no beef with thibs. The whole Knicks starting lineup is in their prime. Nobody is on the verge of regression. So you can keep this roster together for a couple of years if all goes well and work with the cap which obviously the Knicks can do.
@HARLEM-NEWYORKАй бұрын

No way Philly is ahead of Knicks! We beat them without Randle 4 months ago! Joel and George are injury prone and their acquisitions are all old vets!! This is a great trade for Knicks - we have the best top 7 in NbA - Brunson, OG, Bridges, Towns, Hart, Mitch and McBride!! Precious, Payne and Shamet are solid! We will be fine! All teams are only as good as their health come playoff time. This video will not age well!! See you in the nba finals!

Non Knicks fans won’t understand. This 1st was covered by the media as valueless just last year and now it’s a good pick? Its really two seconds unless the Pistons entire organization does a 180 and becomes a good team. Overall good trade, Divo you will be missed, Randle thank you for everything you did for NY basketball 🙏🏼
@PatriotsAndTruthАй бұрын
I’m not a KAT fan but saying he’s a bad defender is being misinformed or disingenuous. They put KAT on Jokic over Rudy… KAT averages 2.1 stocks per game for his career and was 7th last season in defense rating. Right in between Bam and Anthony Davis. So please stop with the bullsh**
@ollytropics1735Ай бұрын
That was heavily helped by being around Gobert and Jaden mcdaniels
@PatriotsAndTruthАй бұрын
@@ollytropics1735 and now we will be next two OG and Mikal. Two top 5 wing defenders….
@carter5377Ай бұрын
It was the entire team that stopped Jokic and KD. Towns was the man on those players, but Gobert was anchoring the paint while McDaniels and Ant were there to hedge and trap. KAT is not a good defender at the 5.
@carter5377Ай бұрын
@PatriotsAndTruth no Gobert to hold the paint. Embiid and Giannis are going to feast. KP cooked Towns and shut him down last year, too. He's not a supermax player with the new CBA rules
@PatriotsAndTruthАй бұрын
@@carter5377 you do understand that Bridges and OG are literally the top rated wing defenders in the league right? You know that Thibs is an elite defensive coach whose teams are always amongst the top basically every season? Then you will have McBride or Hart as the 5th starter and they are both good defenders. The only weakness is JB and he’s good enough in this system surrounded by 4 good or elite defenders. KAT going to be great at the 5 on defense because he’s surrounded by great defenders and in a proven successful defensive system.

They had to do something. Randle and Achiuwa are way too small to play the 5. Robinson is going to be out until December or January. Who, with a straight face, were the Knicks going to put at the 5 on a nightly basis? If they didn’t get Towns, it would have become a revolving door, and it would have made the Knicks worse.

Its amazing people don't realize the Knicks are not trying to bet on one or two guys to carry them to a title. They are trying to build a balanced team where everyone can do their part. The Knicks in their history have made bet after bet on a big name and its hasn't been working. Then they went after Brunson, gave Hartenstein a platform, elevated Josh Hart, and saw massive success. Its totally in line with their strategy to bet on replacing Donte/Randle with the better Mikel/Kat. They improved for sure, do they have one less player (that was going to be angry on the bench anyhow) in depth, sure. But that's the only loss

This is a great trade for NY cuz NY is Brunson's team. So the top 8 players, e.g. Luka, Giannis, are out of option. The best players available to be swapped for Randle that can complement (and maximize) Brunson's game were either KAT or Jaren Jackson Jr. We got KAT.
@rnarine89Ай бұрын
U can tell windhorst don’t like bontemps lmao
@nicholasbraxton1342Ай бұрын
I actually like this trade for the Knicks a lot. You don't like to see Randle and DiVincenzo go but KAT fits Brunson better offensively. I believe this move will unlock Brunson even more. Also because of the emergence of Brunson as a superstar player it changes their thought process on who to add. Brunson is now a superstar and, Towns is a star player. I also believe Mikal Bridges will return to his all NBA defensive form. OG Anunoby is the key, I don't view him as a 82 game player but if he can play 60 or more games and, be healthy for the playoffs the Knicks will be hard to beat. I also don't think the Knicks are done, they might still add another piece. As presently constructed I like their starting five and, I don't believe their bench is as thin as some people think. Deuce McBride really came on last season in a major way, I am high on Tyler Kolek even though he is a rookie, Precious Achiuwa was really good last season. The key position on the bench will be the 3 and, 5 but I actually like McBride, Kolek and, Achiuwa off the bench. If KAT is bought in I believe they can contend in the EAST
@sabirsalАй бұрын
Bontemps must be living in an alternate universe we’re Julius Randle was something more than a complete nothingburger for the Knicks in the playoffs. I’d buy on Kat averaging 19/10 during the playoffs like he’s done for the T-wolves. Literally it’s better than nothing.
@Tobe-rt5ruАй бұрын
Wild thing is randle last season seemed to be getting it right, less 3pa and more rim pressure. But now on minnesota he needs to do a 180 and go back to shooting more lol which by an opponents perspective is what you want him to do😅
@ItzzShazeyАй бұрын
how come before the trade of randle going to the wolves every Knicks fan said "just wait until Randle comes back he is going to destroy every team in the east especially philly" and now that he is gone its "oh we didnt need him KAT is way better than him and donte put together" you people just switch up immediately to cope with things, its honestly sad.
@mexicolaisgoodАй бұрын
@@ItzzShazey Most Knicks fans aren’t saying that. They valued him as a flawed but good player. But KAT is better than him and Donte was great but replaceable - especially on a Thibs team where he will only be playing 18 minutes per night at best.
@mollyweir9350Ай бұрын
@@mexicolaisgoodKat is the better 3pt shooter and at ft throw & a little better defender. Randle better scorer, rebounder& playmaker. Both of them have questionable decision making & shrink under pressure. Kat came out better this season b/c of his playoffs performance vs Phoenix & Denver & JR was injured and therefore cannot say how he would have fared. One thing people keep talking about Kat defending Jokic. He was not the only reason. Without Rudy acting as a roamer & guys like NAW & McDaniels hounding Jamal this would not be possible. Denver wetting the bed in gm 7 made Kat even look better.

A few days before the Knicks traded for Bridges, Jake Fischer of Yahoo reported the Knicks missed their opportunity to move their picks in a trade for a player. The Knicks were a good team and those picks wouldn't be coveted by other teams. In the summer of 2023, Windy and Lowe would always say OG and Bridges were the two most coveted players in the NBA. Teams were offering multiple first round picks and pick swaps for both players. Both players ended up on the Knicks. A superstar wasn't available. The Pistons pick won't convey. The Pistons are awful. Bontemps is jet lagged. The pick is top-13 protected in 2025, top-11 in 2026, top-nine in 2027 and will convert to a second-round pick if not conveyed by then.

Towns role on the Knicks will be drastically different than it was on Minnesota. This is a bet on Brunson, not on Towns. Towns will not need to be a secondary playmaker like he had to be on Minnesota. He will have a very defined and simple role. Pick & Pop, Attack Mismatches off Switches, Corner 3s. Towns does not need to be an elite rim protector when he's surrounded by elite wing defenders and ball stoppers. You can like the trade or not but it is very very easy to understand how it will work. Randle was gonna be a tough fit and Divo would have had a drastically reduced role. I hate losing Divo, and not many new yorkers who don't think KAT is soft, but there is no doubt that he is a perfect fit for the Knicks offensive scheme. Let's not forget, we still have Mitch coming back and unless he gets traded, he will be the perfect backup to Towns when a situation calls for elite rim protection. Listening to Marks talk about the Sixers-Knicks matchup is painfully dumb.

I think the biggest thing this KAT trade tells us is that the Knicks Brass must believe Duce McBride is ready to taken on a much larger roll… after seeing how important Donte’s on ball defense and ability to stretch the court really benefited the Knicks in the playoffs, I don’t think Leon and the brass could afford to trade Donte unless they believe that Duce is ready to replace Donte’s role
