I had the bilateral lip and palate. The operations were extremely successful and I'm now left with no speech impediment or visual deformities. Happily married and perfectly normal. The only negative that I experienced was growing up in a bad family that was ill prepared and with very little emotional intelligence. The kids at school didn't help back then, either, but as my face matured and the operations stopped, it sort of all came together. I'm now 45 and can smile as I've learnt from the experiences

Same here. I actually didn't know what was wrong with me until I was bullied. But as time goes by and with the love and inspiration my fam has for me, I learned to accept my flaws and grew stronger. I know this baby will be strong. We are known to be fighters, you know :)

Hello Sir,My 6 months old son has a cleft soft palate. MRI Scan report says "Mild asymmetry of soft palate and uvula with small mucosal cleft on left side.", "Few small subcentimeter discrete sub centimetre bilateral submandibular and posterior cervical lymph nodes". Please suggest if it can self heal or it needs a surgery.

I know all to well how these babies feel or will feel as they grow up I was born with cleft n lip palate and that was almost 66 years ago.Oh yes I was being made fun of all the time and even today some people still makes fun of me yes it does hurt but you learn to live with it or I have.And my speech was and still is effected by that way I was born.But it has not stop me from having fun.I was lucky that I had a good mom that love me for the way I was born some babies are not and that hurts me to this day.Being a male or female it will always be the way you are and people will always make fun of you I know this all to well all I have to say to these babies you are lucky you are still able to do things just like anyone can.Even dating will be different for some of us.But I got lucky I found a woman who loved me for me not for the way I looked.My wife is now in heaven and I am still here on earth I hope to join her again someday in heaven.
