I have never published a full day of Darwin Wet Season time-lapse but here it is. It finishes with a nice storm so it is worth sitting through five minutes of video. It starts at about 7:30am and ends about 6:30pm. One frame captured every five seconds.
This was filmed on 23rd November 2011. From my archives.
See my you tube channel Rwlante for more storm time-lapse videos

Very nice time lapse. Good illustration of an upper level "cap" of relatively warm (and stable) air that hinders convective development, until it is eventually broken up by the outflow of a distant storm, producing explosive storm development.

I have had an acute interest in weather for almost my whole life. I have also taken many weather-related courses at our community college in Mesa Arizona.

Ah, that would explain it. It once occurred to me that institutions that teach courses on weather might like these type of videos to show their students. Cheers.

Geoengineering is dehydrating the upper atmosphere to prevent rain. They think it's science. Frankly, I think it's diabolical.

Great job. I love to watch clouds, especially thunderstorms. The sky is so dynamic. I even enjoyed the music. What was the piece you used? I'm not sure, but I think that was Vivaldi's 4 Seasons. Any way masterfully done.

nice you should rename it "Darwin's evolution of storm". Do you think the thermals were from the airport runway it sure looked like something was powering them?
@Rwlante
@Rwlante 10 жыл бұрын
Hi, actually the airport is in another direction. However, there is a plume the keeps flowing in the middle section that I suspect might be heat exhaust from the power station.

Great video, I live in Darwin and live for the wet season. I am also a very keen photographer and and wondering if you sat next to your camera taking a photo every five seconds or there is a mode you can use? How did you not run out of batteries?
@Rwlante
@Rwlante 10 жыл бұрын
Ok, if you know Darwin, you must know Cullen Bay. My wife and I had a 6th floor unit there and I had a video camera mount fixed to the wall. Each morning I put my video camera (with time-lapse mode) outside (with rain protection and mains power) and then went to work. When I came home, I could review the tape and see what I had captured. It was great fun doing this. Now that I am in the Philippines I have to put my camera on the roof of my office and rely on 2 hr batteries. It was more fun it Darwin and the storms were better.
