Oh, yes, I imagine that most things are a lot cheaper, particularly housing. A good statistic at which to look is GDP per capita, to compare countries' economies. In the USA, it's $70,000 per capita, while in South Africa, it's $7,000 per capita. That's the amount a country produces annually, divided by the total population. It's a good indicator of what people can earn and afford to spend. South African prices must be cheaper, or their GDP would be higher.
