My youngest was hard to put down for naps too, until he started taking a nap in my bed. Bedtime was in his bed, but nap time in moms bed was different. I don’t know why but it totally worked. Worth a shot.

Listening to you talk about your son's sleeping issues is bringing me back! My daughter had colic SO bad and basically screamed for the first 6 months of her life. It's hard to describe to people the level of despair you reach- it truly feels like it's never going to end! My girl would only sleep with the vacuum cleaner running next to her crib, so that's what I did. It was a traumatic, chaotic, and seemingly never ending period of time that I'll never forget! I'm praying for your family, Em, and as trite as it sounds- this too shall pass. I promise!

My parenting style (and experience/knowledge) changed so much by the time I had baby #4. I honestly just laid down with him. It gave me a chance to take a breather from the day and get in those baby snuggles. He did have (and still has) separation anxiety due to a very long hospital stay when he was 6 months old. He had an abscess on his carotid artery and I’ll just say, I’m very lucky that my little guy made it to age 6 and is now healthy and thriving, but it put things in perspective for me. I know not everyone has the option to lay down with their baby, due to work or other responsibilities, but if you can, I would definitely recommend it. It doesn’t last forever. For most kids, it’s just a phase. My little one would even come to me when he was tired with a blanket so he could lay down for his nap. It can absolutely be frustrating when you’re thinking about all the things you have to get done, but these years go by so so quickly. My oldest is 14 now and I miss the days when he wanted to snuggle because it’s hard to even get a hug out of him now. So my advice is, when you can, just lay down with him. It’ll be comforting for him, and in my experience, it becomes comforting for us too ♥️ Whatever you decide to do, I’m sending hugs your way mama!

Aww I feel for you hugs 🧡 I do appreciate you speaking about your struggle, back in 2009 , I felt totally alone and a complete failure when my two week old had colic. Crying constantly, unless he was feeding, no more than hour half sleep at a time for eight long months. It was absolutely traumatic and even now I can think back and get very sad and wonder how we made it with sanity left! I hope this phase for you gets better very soon. Hugs 🧡

Hang in there, Em! My daughter did the same thing at that age-people gave me the same advice of implementing quiet time, but kids that age are very rarely ready to drop the nap. We powered through a few months (but stayed consistent!) and she’s now three and still naps almost every day. You got this and it will pass. It might pass like a kidney stone. But it will pass 💙

I hope everything gets better Em! My daughter still has separation anxiety and she's 20. When she was in school, she would get sick with a headache and stomach ache. I had to go to the school and sit with her till her symptoms wod just go away 10 minutes after being around me. I had to be a stay at home mom until after high-school. So sad that she has mental health issues that make the separation issues worse... some children just need a little extra loving... she has my heart... her big brother helps too. So glad they are best friends siblings!!!!

Wow my daughter is 6 years (she’s my youngest of my 3 kids) ever since she was born she would always cry , she would never sleep through the night. She would cry, or want me or her dad to hold her hand or to look at her until she falls asleep. She’s always with me and my husband and her siblings. I homeschool her, she also sleepwalk. She’s doing a bit better now, but just when we think she’s doing good, we have a set back and she starts getting agitated and wanting to be with us at night. And when she’s like that, she could easily be up the whole night, yet the next day she functions normally. That never happened before with my other 2 kids. ( But the thing is that during the day she’s very independent, she does everything a 6 year old would do) very active and happy, she loves to play , she loves Emily’s videos lol and she plays with makeup, she has good grades etc). It’s only at bed time 😩 but we’ve gotten used to it. I’m a stay home mom so if I don’t get enough rest at night I sleep in the next day a couple of extra hours. She’s our baby and we love her sooo much, but she can be a handful . Just hoping someday, not too far this will pass 🤷🏻♀️

We struggled with the same sleep issues until our son was about 4 years old. I wish I had a magical solution but truly nothing worked for us either. The big upside though, and I hope this gets you through, is that I feel this sleep issue is coupled with a curious, intelligent, determined personality which down the road will surprise you with how much they are capable of achieving. Our son is now 18 and a D1 athlete at a great university where those same traits that drove me to tears as a baby makes him extremely successful. I hope this gives you some comfort as you struggle through these times. Big hugs to you!

I love your Saturday uploads! It's like a "good morning " from a friend. I haven't ordered from Colourpop in a long time, and passing on this collection. I don't mind a pink look, but I have these colors already...but those blushes are really cute! My son did a similar thing when he was little around nap times, so I just stopped trying to get him to nap...I had better luck with just letting him play "wearing himself out" and he slept better at night, and wouldn't wake up quite as early. Also, he would want to go to bed a bit earlier too. But there were times where he would fall asleep on the couch for a nap, but that wasn't often. I've always had sleep issues too, so that's where he inherited it😄 Love ya, Emily 💚💌💜

I will come check on you in 5 mins.” Then I would check on them in 5 mins and say I will check on you in another 5 mins. Most of the time they fell asleep by the second check in. Over time I could just say I would check on them and not have to because they would fall asleep. For some really odd reason my youngest really wanted us to “check on her”. Those words soothed her and worked like a charm. Good luck and don’t give in! Stay the course!

Thank you for the lovely, informative video today. I can so relate to your feelings of frustration and distraction while your son is fighting separation anxiety during the middle of the night and during nap time. Some babies and toddlers are just clingier than others and crave that closeness while they sleep. (I had to smile when you said that he would prefer to sleep ON someone! I remember this well. How sweet, but frustrating that can be!) All I can say is hang in there! I will be praying for you and your family as you navigate this period of life with Bubba and the rest of your family. Thank God you have a strong, loving husband to help parent your son! You are a wonderful mother. Never doubt that! I would encourage you to just keep praying and make sure that YOU are getting enough sleep. Not to disrupt your sleeping arrangements, but have you ever considered bringing his crib into your room? Maybe Bubba would be more accepting of lying back down in the morning if he knew that his dad was near, and that he isn't alone in his room. That way (hopefully) your husband and Bubba can both get more sleep while you do your videos in the early morning. Maybe Bubba would fight taking a nap less if you "took a nap" at the same time in the room with him. After he falls asleep you could get up, but at least he might go down for a nap easier if he weren't alone in the bedroom. Some parents put the crib right next to the bed so that they can touch their fretful and sleepy child to reassure them. Just an idea.... Every child is different. You need to do what works for you and your husband as you parent your son (as a team) through this challenging time. My son was clingy like that and his father was frequently deployed as a Marine. That was very difficult! I finally decided that I needed solid sleep more than I needed him to sleep in his own room, but that was me. You have a wonderful husband! I'm sure you will communicate and find ways to get through this rough patch together. Hang in there, Emily! Take care of yourself!!! I will pray for you. ❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️

I'm 41 and when I was a teenager I used Clinique tinted moisturizer. I believe that is the first tinted moisturizer. I don't know if they have it now. That was a long time ago!!!

This was great. I haven’t ordered anything from Colourpop in a long time but can’t pass on the blushes and lipsticks. Thanks.

Word of advice.... If u want the colors in the ban to look less pink... Use a more yellow concealer on your eyelid like a eye primer... LA Girl makes a light Simi yellow concealer that would allow the eyeshadow to look true to pan colors.... Try it out on one eye and do the other without the light warm yellow concealer and you'll see the awesomeness 👍

Omg!!! I need all those blushes!!!! My son was like that with naps. I couldn’t take it anymore because it was just me. I laid him in his crib and let him cry until he fell asleep. After allowing him to do that it only happened twice then he napped in his crib with no problems. Yes u felt so bad and I cried with him but it does work. I know most parents won’t do that to their babies but when your a single mom on a verge of a mental breakdown I had too. He’s 14 now so independent now.

Pretty soon Bubba will be a teenager and sleeping ALL the time! I will pray that you get some rest Emily. My grandson Grayson is 2 and if his schedule is tweaked a little bit, it is hard on everyone! Lots of love - Lisa❤

I'm just catching up on your recent videos, and OH. MY. GOSH. My son is two, and what you described going on with Bubba is EXACTLY what my son is going through also! To the T. And the tears.... Ugh, I feel you 100000000%. Sending you all prayers because I understand EXACTLY what you're going through 😭💕

"Just Dance" reminds me so much of "Love hangover" from the Love Flush blushes from Too Faced. Heart shaped too!

Hi Gm Emily.. I totally agree with you on the 4pumps of this Fresh look Colourpop tint.. Not needed at all. 👍 I like red or pink lips w/ nude eyes. I love your reviews.. love the lipstick and blushes.

When I learned how to do my makeup as a teen from magazines in the 90s, there was such a focus on using minimal amounts of product to avoid a cakey look. When I returned to loving makeup in 2017 in my 30s, I was surprised by how much some KZbinrs used. I couldn’t believe the triangles of concealer under the eyes. It’s so interesting to see how trends and beauty aesthetics change over time and perhaps the way products are formulated now makes a difference too.
