As much as I loved your ‘new in’ vids I totally respect what you say about not wanting to influence mindless consumption. This is the number 1 thing that grates on me these days with some of my fave vloggers just the volume of ‘stuff’ they influence, you are right it just doesn’t feel right. I think it’s fab you recognise your influence in this way and your message is spot on. This is why you continue to be my very fave vlogger, I’ve watched every one of your vids for years. 👏

It must be hard to strike a balance between being more sustainable and accepting PR products from companies. And that’s not a veiled dig or any other type of passive aggressive comments; it’s just an awareness that we come to influencers for the latest and greatest but also want them to scale back.

Yes it’s definitely a balancing act! on the one hand I want to keep in the know of what’s new / good etc but at the same time, I don’t want to be talking about 563827 things all at once!

Yes!! And not just mention products but go more into depth about all the techniques or/and cosmetic procedures at the salon, plus your fave skincare products (even if they’re expensive I don’t care I just want to know! Lol) and maybe show us how you apply them. Maybe work with a professional in a video telling us how to take care of our skin in the middle of a pandemic (with all these terrible masks that give us blemishes and pimples), how to prepare our skin for the summertime... stuff like that. 🙂

I love your "new in" videos, but agree that it can encourage mindless consumption. Maybe would be good to do a quarterly or seasonal version (as opposed to monthly). I still like to hear your opinions on new releases!

How do you have hooded eyes? Your eyes and the space available is envious!! Beautiful look - for me, the Victoria Beckham mascara is right up my alley - small, curved brush, natural finish. Great video!

Like the other comments, I too really enjoyed your “new in” videos but also respect the fact that you would like to strike a balance between sharing that type of content while not promoting mindless consumption. I also just wanted to add that, while I do often take your advice and recommendations, I typically would only purchase an item if I was already in the market for that type of item and wanted to try something new. I’m sure I’m not the only one in that boat, so just thought I’d mention it in case the feedback is helpful. Hope you and your family are doing well! ❤️

Agreed! If I don't want to mess with shadow, I always use bronzer in my crease and under my lower lash line, sometimes smudge a bit on the outer V too. It's so easy and cohesive, especially if I brighten the inner corner too!

Totally get you on the sustainability front, but I did like knowing what was new and worth investing in rather than wasting money on something shiny that I didn't end up using. Would definitely enjoy more review type videos on that same vein but don't necessarily need to see every new collection. Loved this one!

I bought the YSL Touché Eclat foundation based on your recommendation from an old video and I’m in love! Makes my skin look so radiant and skin-like! The first foundation that I have that actually DOES something for my skin other than covering it and evening it out! I feel and see the difference. The only thing is that the lightest shade (B10 porcelain) is too dark for me when I’m not self tanning, but still - If I decide to self tan for the whole year than I’m set! If not, it’s still wearable for around 5-6 months in the spring/summertime! Absolutely love it and now this is making me want to try the Touché Eclat highlighter as well! 🙂 Lovely product! Cannot praise it enough, obviously. 😂 No wonder these products are so well known in the beauty community. Touché Eclat line is truly something else. 👍😉😍

I also don't like going full eye makeup I tend to stick with more muted tones as I've aged (31 yr old here) also thank you for not becoming one of those people who constantly talk mindlessly about products all the time it really does bug me when some influencers/content creators do this, it's almost like they no longer have good ideas on new types of content so they stick to their mindless sales pitches the endless consumerism and consumption is nuts, so thank you fluer for being original and hope to see an anti haul or a capsule wardrobe one day ❤️ you are amazing

Yay these are my favourite Fleur videos. I see where you're coming from about how they can be perceived as problematic but at the end of the day this is your job and trying and critiquing products is part of the reason we all love your channel. As long as you have a good system for getting it all used, and a good cause to donate surplus or unwanted items to you're all good in my eyes.

I think you strike a good balance between talking about new stuff and not encouraging over consumption. I think what also helps is your viewers don’t seem to skew as teen-heavy as some other influencers. Since we’re all older (HOPEFULLY) people should be able to just be reasonable and pick out a couple products they like, rather than go out and buy everything you mention. So I wouldn’t feel super guilty talking about new launches if you want :)

A good idea would be to talk about new and upcoming releases and just throw up pictures. That way you can still critique and then decide if you will buy it or if you have received it. Smokey Glow and Angelika Oles do these type of videos using images off TrendMood. :) xx

I think the massive haul videos are a bit much if you are going down a more sustainable path but a GRWM doesn't feel as grating. You can balance them out with GRWM that involve using older products :)
