This better than the NBA. I see a bunch of players giving max effort on “both”sides of the court. This is real b-ball. Real defense being played. @@upfulsoul826 notice the elements of b-ball I mentioned that are much better than the NBA. In the last 10 years or so, a softness and entitlement has overtaken the NBA. Not much defense played, minimal effort on D from superstars, just stat padding with 3’s and easy dunks since the land is now wide open and you can’t touch the player with the ball. Also, they allow walking, carrying, offensive fouling, flopping, constant crying to refs etc. That is not basketball. NBA has more talented players from 3 pt shooting perspective but they lack the spirit and fundamentals that make b-ball enjoyable. The woman’s college b-ball I just watched has a lot of what the NBA lost about 10 years ago or so. It’s unwatchable for true b-ball fans. It’s a mockery of what the greats played hence why I said the women’s game I just watched tonight has the elements of real b-ball that’s missing and they are more than talented enough to entertain us, even if though they are not as athletic as the guys. The heart and grit I saw tonight was refreshing. I stand by what I said.

Edwards was literally moving throughout that part. She took another step because Marshall was out of her normal screen's reach and you can see her right leg and left knee both leaning to her left towards Marshall. I think she even dragged or slid her right foot a bit? Well the point is that it was clearly an illegal moving screen (do not press pause button during slow motion replay cuz it will really look like she did not move lol 😂). Adding to that was her slightly raised and reached out elbow that gave a little push to the incoming Marshall. Edwards ran into Marshall not the other way around. Given the difference in physical build, the effect of the slight collision to the smaller and lighter Marshall was quite normal. It was not a bad call, just a wrong timing one for a lot of people because many viewers want to witness an exhilarating, wild and fantastic finish on that great stage. Stop blaming and hating just for the sake of having something to say. It's not like the call happened out of nowhere without any basis. It was arguable but still acceptable. Take in the result and move on. We have one more great game coming up next. Well if Iowa wants to prove they deserved that victory then all they have to do is convincingly win over UNDEFEATED SC in the finals. 👋✌👍🤔😇

@@AkronJosh- Josh the problem with the “rules are rules” argument is that there are probably 200 fouls in any given game, and no referee has yet called a perfect game. Add to that the fact that a lot of those calls are judgment calls that rely on splitting hairs to defend them. And, basketball is not a static environment like gymnastics or figure skating where you are being judged on technical form … basketball is jazz, improvisation, against a live opponent. Watch any game, men’s or women’s, college or NBA, and you will see players constantly hedging on screens, shuffling their feet, moving around. It’s like the 3 step travel in the NBA, or palming the ball while dribbling … it’s not really called anymore. So for a referee to decide that that moment is the time to enforce the old school rulebook and focus on the technical execution of fundamentals is just wrong. This is not the skills competition at all-star weekend. Nobody is watching to see if the ref knows his rulebook. Everyone is the building wants to see the shot go up, make or miss. And that’s the irony of it. The foul didn’t give UConn any advantage … Stuelke had Paige pretty well defended, and that sideline was pretty congested. It would have been a tough shot regardless … so just let it play out.

...and right before the Iowa turnover and Muhl 3 (:55ish on the clock?), Steulke blatantly moved a screen on their inbounds and no call. My point isn't that the Edwards' foul was wrong - at least by letter of law, her feet were wide and she did lean, but right when you think the officials are letting them play a ref inserts themselves into the game on such a benign call . Marshall deserves credit (and I mean that as a compliment) selling that little bounce off to me was the play of the game - but moving screens were frequent on both sides, and rare was the call. Nudges under the basket (Affolter forearm pushing Muhle in the back for the rebound off Clarke's miss at the end), rare was the call. Reach-ins on both sides, rare was the call. Travel on both sides (KK 3-step bucket right before the time out), rare was the call. Then a meaningless leaning screen (cuz the defender got around it just fine), and 'fweet'! Unless it's blatant stay outta the way and let the play evolve. The outcome may or may not change, I think Iowa was just a little better equipped to take it, but at least let the players end the game. urrgg. To me, tho', the game was decided in the third Q

That's literally a textbook illegal screen. As an official the woman who made that call is a hero. It's literally for an official like hitting a grand slam. Catching a moving screen that could have let one team win by getting away with something that blatant and obvious feels like all the years of preparation as an official has paid off because you fairly arbitrated the game at it's most critical moment the same way you did in minute 5 of the game. Which is what we all strive for! Hero!

Yes you can argue it wasn't a foul. Normal contact in a screen situation. It was a call where the Ref decided he or she was more important than the players. Tainted the Iowa win and deprived the nation of seeing whether a last second shot was in or out. You've never played competitive basketball if you think that was a foul. @davidaskinas9522 nah, if you look at this again in a dispassionate setting once the emotions have died down, you'll agree that it was indeed an illegal moving screen. I set and received a few myself when I played and it's also very clearly defined in the NCAA rulebook. Not a flagrant foul, but a foul nonetheless. If you want to argue that it wasn't called consistently throughout the game, fine, but that's an issue that plagues officiating in every major sport everywhere in the world, so nothing new there.
