I like how the pilots chose to deploy the gear early to get that extra drag during the approach into SLC. The high density altitude definitely makes it harder to slow down. Nice video.

Last long-haul flight involved a Lufthansa 747 with a 3-man crew instead of 2 like nowadays. I can honestly say I have flown in every aircraft from the Boeing 707 to when the Airbus first debuted. One thing I didn't like was when the aircraft took off after a rolling start. I always preferred starting a takeoff roll from a stationary stopping point. As a member of the "Lufthansa Jr. Club," I once got to sit in the seat as copilot for a 747 enroute to Frankfurt from Chicago. Different times, I know. However, that experience got me motivated in 1995 to get my solo and do everything required for ppl except for the final check ride- which I didn't have the cash to pay for. As a result, I always tell people don't discount experiences as you never know what the final result may turn out to be. Dan Hughes Illinois

Interesting how the A330 has larger flap track fairings than the 777 despite being a smaller plane. The A330 also has smaller horizontal stabilizers (aka tail plane) than the 767 despite being a larger plane!
@ultrametric93172 жыл бұрын
Boeing planes have higher wing loading by design. That is why the stabilizer is smaller on the Airbus. Boeing's design goal is stability in choppy winds and cross-country speed. Airbus wants maximum wing efficiency (low drag and high lift). You can really see the difference in crosswind landings, with the A330 pitching up and down and tending to float, while the 777 is rock solid throughout the approach.
@oluwawamirionakoya32872 жыл бұрын
Well a330 is more interesting for me because once the plane touches the ground for landing the spoilers opens up and just slows the plane down really quick to make the landing more smoother and the landing gear are tilted also!

I mean, I am certainly not going to turn down another spectacular approach and landing into SLC. :) P.S. I would enjoy your vids even more if you would show more of the scenery during the flights. This flight was a perfect example. It just so happened that your seat was more over the wing than usual, and so the view was like 80% wing, when just to the right of the fixed shot was tons of awesome scenery. Since you tend to hold the camera for most of the time anyway, I don't see why you couldn't pan away from the wing view...not continuously...but just once in a while. Like when there is some particularly nice scenery. The wing is the same throughout the flight...but the scenery is always changing, right. Just my two cents, dude. :)
@sla313 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! As always, I appreciate you watching. As for the wing and such. This was the best seat open when I booked this flight, typically I would’ve tried to sit back by the behind the wing exit. Either way, I actually have done what you suggested about panning on several flights recently that I haven’t posted yet. 😃
