How precious that you got to meet with the previous owner! Once an older woman knocked on our door saying this was her grandfather’s house and could she come inside and see it. It was just so special. Apparently he was a minister, and she said he would be so happy to know there is Scripture all over the walls still 🥰

I have a similar story but just sad. A young lady knocked on my door. She was a previous owner that had to sell because her husband had died. She was thrilled I had left the stencils in the stair risers. Then she sat down in the sofa and cried her heart out. I hugged her and told her to please find a support. Her husband had been dead for seven years.

Emily… love that you moved the lamp to the left of the TV. Watching you is like visiting my best friend from high school. I’m 43 now but my bestie in HS was number 13 of 13 in a large Catholic family. I adored their faith. We are Catholic but my family loosely practiced growing up. I mean Mother Angelica used to visit their home and they often had priests as guests and Mass held in their home. But seriously… I miss her dearly and you remind me of her so much. ❤

Your family is making an absolutely beautiful home with so much heart, soul, and love. You also have quite an eye for design. I love watching you explain the reasons behind your choices you are very thoughtful. I also love watching your family and your sons. Please keep your message about how much people can thrift live second hand in many ways. I think that is important. Please keep being open about mistakes and mess and real life too. I think the messages you also send about perfectionism and how it and a lack mentality can be real challenges especially in this day and age. Gratitude and soul are great topics too.

Make a template from a large sheet of paper by rubbing around the edges with a pencil or something, and take it to a glass shop. They can make a custom glass top for your buffet table that way and you wont need to worry about spills or wear and tear. You can use the same method to get a custom stone counter top made for it too though that's more pricey. Those places often have remnants so you might get lucky and find one the right size and save that way. Use clear silcone furniture bumpers under the glass to protect the wood and keep the glass from sliding. If you go the stone route you can attach heavy felt underneath for the same function.

Simply beautiful...elegant...organic and most importantly...warm and cozy. We have recently moved into our forever home and are going room by room to make it our own. I made my husband come in to watch so I could show him some of your beautiful pieces and how you styled them so he could see where I was going with some of my ideas and choices. He too..loved everything. You are kind of like my real life Pinterest board haha. Thank you for sharing and it was cool to hear where you found all your interesting pieces and the story behind them. I am obsessed with your scorpion box and would love to find something like that eventually. Such a statement piece!! Looking forward to seeing your Christmas decor come together!

Hello my friend! Hope you & baby boy are both feeling better! The old scorpion chest is very pretty, so much beautiful, ornate detail. The side table is very pretty too! I love anything old & made of wood, especially furniture. And the thing is old wood furniture was built to last! My stepback cupboard is from the 1850's & still sturdy as a rock! Your lucky to get more than 10yrs out of a piece these days. Things that are supposed to be high quality might give you 20-25yrs. So I would much rather thrift a secondhand piece and post a little bit & know its going to last! If you bought A new table for $200 it would probably need to be replaced in 5-10yrs. The tile floors are gorgeous! Love that pattern!❤ The desk is a gorgeous piece, love it! But what broke was just the hinge, that could & does happen on brand new pieces. One of the hinges on one of the top doors of my stepback is broken so we just took both doors off. I know I'll never find another hinge like those! But I use the top shelves for decor anyways. I'd love to have the doors on, but i would leave them open & hang things on them. But that would take up A lot of room! 🤷♀️ The Kung Fu bench is really cute, little narrow, long benches are pretty popular right now! The shelf you guys built is very pretty! Oh I love the stone wall! Years ago, in my first marriage, i had a house built & used that same type stone for the fireplace & hearth and went a the way to the ceiling with the stone. The hearth went wall to wall, stone on the front & sealed cement on top, and bookcases were on either side of the stone. But I really liked having the hearth wall to wall. I love the entryway & the pieces you have there. Have you thought about doing A plate wall or gallery wall behind the table? Or you could put a pretty shelf and decorate it. I actually had a shelf in my gallery wall. You could do pictures or plates still. Those real large black & white photos, have some made of the boys, they would be beautiful there! Loll just a few ideas!😄 The buffet is also a beautiful piece. I love the countertops. The house I had built i had solid black countertops in the kitchen. Oh I love that sink & the placement of it under the window. It just don't feel right to me if there's not A window over the kitchen sink!🤷♀️ We had in in my childhood home & so did my grandma.. so its just normal to me. Oh Wow! Your sister did a great job on the painting!🍋 And that is a beautiful frame. The large cabinet is very nice, very pretty! I love the old furniture pieces that have the keyhole hardware on them.. like that chest of drawers, so pretty. I've always wanted to find some old Cameo brooches & do the same with them like the lion head pieces. Put them on velvet & in a old ornate frame. I think that would be beautiful! I had one of my sweet Utube friends find a couple at am antique store & she surprised me & sent them to me!! Had mentioned it to her at some point & she remembered! Very sweet of her! I'm obsessed with the old rocker! I hope I'll find one like i want soon. I had a couple antique ones in our thrift store back in TN and i messed around & didn't bring home the one i really wanted & it sold.😞 I still get upset when i think about that! You got your for a steal! Oh the cradle is sweet.😊 The but boys room is super cute! I had those folding doors on all my closets & the laundry closet in that house i had built. They're pretty doors, baby keeping them on track can sometimes be annoying! Aww baby boy is so handsome!😊 I love your bedroom! Its nice & large, lots of room. Love the desk area with the hanging lamp! Love the bathroom also, that shower is gorgeous! You really have A beautiful home! Definitely excited for all the Christmas videos! That's when I found most of the channels i watch last year. I was searching thrifting & antiquing videos & everyone was starting to decorate & i loved it! So I just searched more! So we've been friends for a year now.😊 Thanks for the your, i enjoyed it! I pray you have a blessed week!🙏🏻

Awh thank you Tammy! Your home you had built sounds lovely! And I'm glad you bring up the idea of a plate wall because I've been thinking about that over my other table in our family room but I didn't considered it over here actually. Could be a shelf plate wall combination maybe! We are all finally on the mend and getting healthier every day. Baby is eating and sleeping again. Praise the Lord and Dominick and I are getting her energy back 🙌🏻 thank you!

@EmilyGarbe So glad everyone is doing better! Hey A shelf plate wall combo would look awesome too! I've seen several done that way! I saw one that had a shelf & a gallery wall of different sized empty ornate frames all around the shelf.. that was quite pretty too. There's so many things you can do on A large wall!
