I started watching leather making videos a while back and thought I’d enjoy it. I bought all the tools to do this and haven’t even opened up any of the tools. Here I am now, at a crossroad, watching all these hoof restoration videos. I’m so damn tempted to buy these tools and practice on my make believe horse, but I know what the outcome will be.

Many people are asking if the horse felt any pain or discomfort during this. No, the horse doesn't feel any pain whatsoever as this process is same as we humans getting pedicure. The guy who is doing this is clearly experienced in his work and the horse is also smart enough to understand what he's owner is doing to him

I think the horse doesn't really feel it like it surely feels the vibrations and stuff but not any pain since its not the skin of the horse its like nails like humans have but much bigger like we dont feel pain while trimming nails

Another “city boy” question: How do wild horses deal with this in the wild? Do their goods grow out of control?
@kittyclaw50992 жыл бұрын
In the wild horses cover a much greater distance than in a stable. Therefore the hooves wear out faster

I might sound dumb, but why horse shoe are needed? I have no idea about it, KZbin recommend this video.
@kittencaretaker8163 Жыл бұрын
Wild horses don't need horseshoes because their feet naturally wear down and basically trim themselves. Horses on a farm need trimming a lot and the horseshoes are what help keep them from getting sore ankles or getting arthritis sometimes. They don't run around freely they're kept in a stall most of the time that are their ridden by other people which can put a lot of strain on a horse's feet because they're not running a lot the shoes help keep their feet healthy and help keep the horses from getting any problems further along

Why do you not trim back to the widest part of the frog
@pipr50702 жыл бұрын
That’s what I was wondering. He’s going to be fighting flares because he didn’t trim back to the widest part of the frog. Also underrun heels as a result
@NightAuracle2 жыл бұрын
I think he couldn't. The horse already has significant caudal collapse, under run heels, and a fair amount of contraction in the frog. If he trimmed to the widest part of the frog, the horse would probably be even more npa then it already is.
