To be honest,if I ever went to the Big Apple,I would love to spend a day with Engine 82 and Ladder 31,the subjects of the firefighting book,"Report From Engine Company 82"

Why did the engine wait for the ladder to get out first? Or does it simply not fit past?
@FL920024 жыл бұрын
The engine waited for the ladder because the ladder was the 1st due ladder company, and therefore went with lights and siren. The engine was 2nd due engine, so they had a modified response and went without lights or siren.

They are so much more relaxed than rural volunteer FFs

When you do this multiple times a day, every day..

2 minutes is not bad lmao. Do you know how much time they shave off responding with lights and sirens. Imagine going down 6 blocks and you had to stop at all red lights. Red lights usually take like 2 to 4 minutes to change . Add that all up if your responding with lights and sirens and you just saved yourself like 18 minutes of en route time lol

Speaking as a former Chief of a Volunteer Fire Department, if you haven't taken fire standards for your particular state, Seek out a local department. It's a good place to get your feet wet and experience the thrills and spills of a paid department. One thing is certain, you will never see a sign saying, "Not Hiring"!

Weird the engine shut it's emergency lighting off after 2:50 And one other thing, those electronic fire truck sirens are awful! I think the older ones they had in like the 90s were way cooler.

It all depends on where they were in the response order....first due, second due, etc. FDNY response is choreographed....companies are dispatched in very strict sequence.....you arrive when you're told to arrive.

@@bondservantministriesinc.672 people on KZbin always comment about how slow FDNY turns out, but like everything else here, it's done differently. Streets are tight, traffic is dense and you don't want to throw all your resources at one incident at one time. The first-due guys are out the door in a minute cause that's what the screen says!
