I would've loved to see you cut that 3/4" plate with a grinder! Time lapse! So cool what you're doing, it's on a whole different level than me (for now)
@BackyardBeaters2 жыл бұрын
Took FOREVER... but cutting wasn’t the worst part, trying to drill the 3/4 hole through that 3/4” plate for the bolt with a hand drill was the worst 😂

you actually dont want the line of the cylinder right at the pivot, it changes your ackerman... you want it a straight line when it is turned away from the ram fully or halfway in between depending on preference...

Also if you triangulate your axle, you won't be able to use a steering box

Why do you need misalignment spacers if there is no flex in the system, just only pivoting on the bolt?
@BackyardBeaters11 ай бұрын
There is definitely some flex in the system when turning lock to lock, mine is straighter than most but it still changes, not enough to where spacers were a necessity for sure, but I just wanted them to be safe I wasn’t maxing out the heim ever. I also needed to space the heim away from the high steer arm for clearance, so the misalignment spacers are the easiest way to do that.
@nathanpilon68063 жыл бұрын
Were you able to use the 7/8’s heim on the inside with the clevis? I’m currently installing a PSC kit on my truck right now and was wanting to get some stronger veins. Thanks for posting the video!
@BackyardBeaters3 жыл бұрын
No The Clevis has to use the heims it comes with and these little misalignment washers that are included. I’m not worried about them breaking. More likely to break a clevis tbh. I plan to buy a spare clevis to keep in the glove box

Can't wait to see your zj in action I've seen it before and thought it was an awesome unit!! All your video are wiked too! I was curious what do you think if I put a dodge dana 60 cad out of a 2500 dodge truck , on the front of my 97 zj or should I go get a ford Dana 60 out of f250 diesel I plan on doing pretty much like your setup
@BackyardBeaters3 жыл бұрын
Ford all the way. Get that high pinion

Hey I also I have a dodge Dana 80 out of the back of that truck Should I get a ford rear Dana 60 or do you think it's ok to run the dodge out back on my zj
@FunAdventuresImp3 жыл бұрын
I was curious too how much travel your shocks have? I was thinking 12" for my setup ,is that alot or fair in your opinion? Just considering the shock hoops in the rear !
@BackyardBeaters3 жыл бұрын
I’m not of fan of Dana 60 rears, go 14 bolt rear and Ford 60 front. That’s the winning combo
@BackyardBeaters3 жыл бұрын
12s are plenty. 12s front and rear set up properly is more travel than most will ever need. I just switched to 14s in the front, and I’m running them angled back so I’m getting about 20” of whee travel out of the front

Not ideal, but drivable, not very safe. Super touchy. Not recommended unless it’s a trailer queen

@@BackyardBeaters i want to solid axle swap on my Frontier D30 but i still use it for daily, using Full Hydro Steering was okay for daily? My plant was the solid axle with triangulated 4 link suspension and tuss.
